City's Building & Permit Services Introduces

New Community Workshop Series

Curious how the permitting process works, or looking for ways to keep your next project moving smoothly?

The City of Eugene's Permit & Information Center is launching a new series of free, in-person community workshops designed to make the permitting process more accessible, transparent, and easier to navigate.

These sessions will break down common pitfalls, clarify requirements, and offer practical strategies to help reduce delays during application and plan review. Our goal is simple: provide clear information so applicants, designers, and property owners can move forward with confidence.

All sessions will take place in The Atrium building located at 99 W 10th Ave, First Floor in the Sloat Conference room.

Middle Housing in Eugene: What It Is, Where It Fits, and How to Get Started

Thursday, May 14 at 12:00 PM

Middle Housing, including duplexes, triplexes, fourplexes, townhouses, and cottage clusters, can be a great fit for Eugene. But understanding where it’s allowed and how to get started can feel complex.

Join us for a practical, plain-language workshop that will cover:

  • What Middle Housing is and where it is permitted
  • Current standards, requirements, and available resources
  • How Middle Housing Land Divisions (MHLDs) can enable separate ownership of units
  • The basics of site feasibility and permitting

We’ll share local examples, walk through common design considerations and pitfalls, and highlight tools to help you confidently explore a project.

Who Should Attend:

Homeowners, small builders, designers, neighborhood leaders, real estate professionals, and anyone interested in how Middle Housing supports housing options in Eugene.
