Elizabeth River District
Men's Ministry E-News
February 21,2019
Good evening all,

This E-News contains a lot of information about Men's Ministry events in our District. The E-News is being sent primarily to the contact person for each church along with other interested men who have signed up to receive it. Once you have read the E-News , please pass the information along to the men in your church. You are the primary source of getting information out within our District and your help is needed. Please pass it along - and thank you!

If there is a Men's Ministry event happening at your church, please call or text me the info & it will be posted in our upcoming E-News . I can be reached at (757) 434-9393. Let's get the word out!

The men of St. Andrew's UMC in Virginia Beach invite all men of our district to join them for breakfast every Tuesday morning. What started out as the men from St. Andrew's meeting for breakfast has grown to other men joining them & they now are inviting you to join them! Stop by the Village Inn every Tuesday from 6:00 am to 7:00 am for good Christian fellowship before work or your daily activities. Hope to see you there!

All God's Children Camp is a short four months away. Children, ages 7 to 12, with an incarcerated mother or father, spend a week at camp, participating in activities such as boating, swimming, hiking, archery, music, Bible study, and conflict resolution.

Our staff has been working hard through the winter to give our campers a wonderful experience of nature, outdoor activities, arts and crafts and learning that they are fearfully and wonderfully made. I am so pleased that our mentor participation has increased for 2019! So much so that our Camp Occohannock week is full!
However, there are about 40 more spots that need to be filled for the other two weeks. Please consider joining us at Camp Chanco on the James located near the Richmond area! We would love to have you! The dates are June 16 - 21 or August 11 - 16 . Please contact Lori Smith for more information or for ways to get involved! Lori can be reached at 571-245-9591 or  lttlelori@gmail.com .

If anyone is interested in being a counselor, please notify Ron Rumsey at 757 692-9922 or Stacy at stacyroberts@vaumc.org . Male counselors are especially needed!
Dear God, this is a heavy week for United Methodists … delegates from around the world will gather in St. Louis on Friday to determine the future of this denomination of Your church. It is an awesome responsibility. We pray that Holy Spirit will be at work in the hearts of each delegate and that they will find a path to unity that flows from truth – Your truth.

We also know that Tuesday morning the United Methodist Church will be radically different from what it was on Friday morning. Lord, we know that no matter what decisions are reached, lives will be changed and faithful Christian sisters and brothers will be disappointed and hurt. We pray now for healing that each one might find comfort in the power of Holy Spirit. We pray that unity will be restored so that we, as the body of Christ, can return to the primary work of the church: “making disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.”

We continue to pray for Bishop Lewis, that she might be fully restored to health and return to lead the Virginia Conference through the radical changes ahead. Continue to anoint her with the power of Your Holy Spirit. We ask these things in the name of Jesus Christ, Your Son. Amen.

In Christ's Service,

Johnnie Draughon
