Celebrating the Holiday Season

Town leadership, staff and the community turned out last week to kick off the holiday season with bright lights, music, food, fun and even some snow! The Town of Sunnyvale hosted its annual Deck the Hall Christmas Tree Lighting event, including a festive drone show, carolers and visits with Santa.

Here's a video recap of the festivities.

Community Visioning Workshop

Wednesday, Jan. 21, 2026

6:30 to 8:30 p.m.

The Story Wedding and Event Venue, 410 Paschall Road

The Town of Sunnyvale is hosting a Community Visioning Workshop as part of the Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan process. Come prepared to work in small break out groups on a fun mapping exercise to share your vision for the future of Sunnyvale.

This is your opportunity to identify any key planning priorities, improvements, and potential projects throughout the community. Everyone is encouraged to attend and we hope to see you there!

More information about the comprehensive plan process is available on the Imagine Sunnyvale website, including a summary of feedback received so far.

Animal Shelter Update

Earlier this month, the Town hosted a citizen input meeting regarding a new animal shelter. The meeting allowed residents to share their thoughts with the project architect for the design of a new facility.

The illustration above is a broad concept drawing for the new building. The detailed concepts, priorities and specific amenities are still under discussion.

The design is expected to be finalized within the next few months. The entire project is expected to take 12 to 18 months to complete.

Sunnyvale residents and stakeholders are encouraged to monitor Town communications channels, including the website, social media and this weekly enewsletter, for future updates and additional opportunities to provide input.

Get to know Sasha and Trixie!

Learn more about these pets and others on our Petfinder page

Sasha is a two-year-old female cat. Trixie is a 23-week-old cat: Sasha and Trixie are both lively and curious cats who love to explore every nook and cranny of their surroundings. Sometimes they like to chill in their beds, other times they will show their playful side! If you're looking for companions who are full of life and ready to share countless playful adventures, they are the ones! They can be adopted together or separately. Adoption fees are waived through Christmas for all shelter pets.

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to welcome a new member, we currently have many adoptable pets in our shelter looking for a loving home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.
