Town of Sunnyvale - Holiday Schedule

The Town of Sunnyvale offices and the Doris Padgett Public Library will be closed on Dec. 24 and 25 for the Christmas holiday and on Wednesday, Jan. 1, for New Year's Day.

Recycling and trash/bulky waste pick-up will continue on normal schedules on Thursday and Friday of both weeks. For more information on these services, visit the Solid Waste page on the Town website.

Adopt a Pet in Time for the Holidays!

Ferguson is a 4-year-old male domestic short hair cat. Hello, I'm Ferguson. My days are filled with exploration, soft naps, and endless curiosity. I'm the kind of cat who loves to lounge around, but I never miss an opportunity to investigate a new sound or scent. I'm quite a cuddler too, always ready to snuggle up for a good petting session!

Sheba is a 3-month-old female husky. Hello, I'm Sheba. I'm a bit shy, but once you get to know me, you'll find I'm as sweet as honey. I'm mellow, too. I like quiet afternoons, just hanging out with my favorite humans. I may take a little while to warm up, but once I do, I'm all heart. I promise to be gentle, always!

All pets adopted from the Town of Sunnyvale will be vaccinated, de-wormed, spayed or neutered and microchipped. If not been done, the adopter will receive a voucher to have them done. All fees are waived to adopt any of our pets.

If your family is ready to add a member, we currently have many adoptable animals in our shelter looking for a new place to call home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.

Saving Water = Saving Money

Remember, your annual wastewater rates are based on your water consumption during the months of December, January and February, which can save you about $200 each year.

Reducing indoor and outdoor water use this winter will save you money all year round.

For water conservation tips, visit the Water Resources page on the Town's website.

Don't Pour Fats, Oils and Grease Down Your Drains!

When you pour holiday grease down the drain and have to clean up that mess, you're also pouring money down the drain!

When fats, oils, and grease (FOG) are poured down the drain, they stick to the inside of pipes, gradually hardening and building up until they cause major clogs and sewer backups. This can lead to sewage overflows into homes, streets, and waterways, resulting in costly and inconvenient repairs. Overflowing sewers can also force city crews to shut down streets, causing traffic disruptions and additional expenses for residents and municipalities.

Join the 2024 Holiday Grease Roundup!

Instead of pouring your grease down the drain, participate in the Holiday Grease Roundup and recycle it for free! Visit the Holiday Grease Roundup website to find out how you can properly dispose of fats, oil and grease and defend your drains!
