Council Members Are Unopposed

Manu Danny (Place 3) and Holly Garland (Place 4) were the only individuals to file to run for Town Council in May. Since both candidates are unopposed, the Town Council will consider canceling that portion of the election during their Feb. 23 meeting.

Charter Amendment Election

Voters will still have a slate of proposed Town Charter amendments to consider on May 2. Many of these updates would bring the Charter into compliance with State law updates, address any legal or administrative issues, and improve the effective application of the Charter to current conditions.

A nine-person committee began meeting last summer and brought forward a variety of Charter amendments for voters to consider. The amendments include the creation of a Parks and Recreation Board and the requirement for a Library Board, which currently exists.

The proposed amendments also include term limits for the Mayor and Town Council members and would change the Mayor's term from two years to three years.

For more information about the Charter Amendment election, visit the Town Secretary's page on the website.

Say Hi to Rylie!

Learn more about this pet and others on our Petfinder page

Rylie is a two-year-old male Mixed Breed dog: Rylie came to the shelter fairly shy, but has grown into a loveable pup that has really come out of his shell. He is a smart dog learning to walk on a leash. Rylie is up to date on his vaccinations and is neutered. Consider adopting Rylie and adding him to your family!

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to welcome a new member, we currently have many adoptable pets in our shelter looking for a loving home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.
