Town of Sunnyvale Announces Retirement and Resignation of Town Manager Jeff Jones

Sunnyvale Mayor Saji George announced that the Town Council has accepted the notice of retirement and resignation of Town Manager Jeff Jones, effective immediately. Jones has served in the role of Town Manager since 2022.

Mayor George said, “The Council and I thank Mr. Jones for his time and service to the Town of Sunnyvale, and we wish him the best in his next steps.”

The Town expects to immediately begin a search for a new permanent Town Manager, but Police Chief Bill Vegas will serve as the interim Town Manager.

The Council also approved a resolution to form a Charter Review Committee. The Town reviews its Charter every five years to ensure it's compliant with State law and to update it to meet the community's needs.

Appointees will be named at a later date to review the current Charter, recommend changes and put before the voters in an upcoming election.

Sunnyvale is Updating its Comprehensive Plan!

The Town of Sunnyvale is excited to announce the kick-off of the planning process to update the Town’s comprehensive plan. The Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan will serve as the Town’s official guide for land use and development for the next 20 years. The comprehensive plan will address several topics, including land use and development, residential areas, commercial and employment areas, transportation, and community facilities and public infrastructure.

The public will have its first opportunity to learn more about the process and provide insights at a Community Open House on Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Sunnyvale Town Hall, 127 N. Collins Road.

When completed, the Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan will be the product of the community, with a vision and recommendations guided by valuable input received from residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Residents should track the project's progress through the project website during the next year to stay informed. To learn more about the process, explore the website or contact the Town of Sunnyvale Planning and Development Department at AskPlanning@townofsunnyvale.org or 972-203-4188.
