Committee Begins Reviewing Town Charter

On July 14, the Town Council approved a resolution forming the Home Rule Charter Review Committee. The committee consists of nine residents who will review the charter and make any necessary recommendations to the voters. The committee met for the first time on July 22, and will continue meeting until August.

The Home Rule Charter is the local constitution, outlining the municipal government’s structure, powers and functions. Periodic reviews are essential to ensure the Charter remains current, effective and responsive to the community’s needs.

In other action, the Town Council also accepted the resignation of Place 4 Council Member Mark Eldridge during the July 14 meeting.

The Council will call a special election in November to allow Sunnyvale voters to elect a new Council Member for Place 4. Monitor Town Council agendas and actions for more information.

Sunnyvale Residents are Invited to Get Involved!

The Town of Sunnyvale is excited to announce the kick-off of the planning process to update the Town’s comprehensive plan. The Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan will serve as the Town’s official guide for land use and development for the next 20 years. The comprehensive plan will address several topics, including land use and development, residential areas, commercial and employment areas, transportation, and community facilities and public infrastructure.

The public will have its first opportunity to learn more about the process and provide insights at a Community Open House on Wednesday, Aug. 6, from 7 to 8:30 p.m., at Sunnyvale Town Hall, 127 N. Collins Road.

When completed, the Imagine Sunnyvale Comprehensive Plan will be the product of the community, with a vision and recommendations guided by valuable input received from residents, business owners, community leaders, and other stakeholders.

Residents should track the project's progress through the project website during the next year to stay informed. To learn more about the process, explore the website or contact the Town of Sunnyvale Planning and Development Department at AskPlanning@townofsunnyvale.org or 972-203-4188.

Boss Needs Your Help

Learn more about this pet and others on our Petfinder page

Boss is a five-year-old male Boxer: Say hello to Boss, a kind dog who loves his car rides and enjoys being part of a family. Boss is a smaller Boxer with a cancerous tumor on his neck and needs a family that can help take proper care of him. He is current on all vaccines and is heartworm negative, but he still needs to be neutered. Boss is also crate-trained and works well on a leash.

Please consider adopting Boss and welcoming him into your family.

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to add a member, we currently have many adoptable animals in our shelter looking for a new place to call home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.
