Sunnyfest Set for June 28

Save the date and plan to bring the entire family for Sunnyvale's "Red, White and Boom" Sunnyfest Celebration at Town Center Park.

The entertainment will feature several country music artists. Full details will be announced soon, but everyone can count on an evening of live music, yummy festival food, games and activities for the entire family. The night will wrap up with a fantastic fireworks show and a drone show featuring the fabulous drone work of Sky Elements, a 2024 “Americas Got Talent” finalist.

While admission to the family-friendly event is free, we kindly ask attendees to bring a jar of peanut butter or canned food to help fill the local Sharing Life food pantry.

The Town is adding a new way for you to get updates about Sunnyfest, including reminders and updates about any last-minute changes before and during the event.

Text Sunnyfest to 38276 to subscribe to these alerts.

Of course, watch the Town's website and social media pages for updates soon!

Atmos Energy Safety Survey: June 8-14, 2025

Atmos Energy crews and contractors will be in Sunnyvale performing safety surveys of our natural gas distribution system using mobile leak detection units that measure and map methane plumes in the area.

Mobile leak detection units are white SUVs with flashing lights, labeled with an Atmos Energy logo or “Utility Contractor.” They drive slowly in the street and alley at night, ensuring an accurate survey of our gas system.

As part of this routine maintenance, if a natural gas leak is discovered, crews will investigate and grade the leak. If a Grade 1 (hazardous leak) is found, immediate action will be taken to eliminate the hazard. Grade 2 and 3 leaks are monitored and scheduled for repair based on state and federal guidelines.

For more information on how to detect a natural gas leak, visit the Atmos Energy website.

East Tripp Road Construction Will Begin Soon

Construction will soon begin along East Tripp Road between Collins and East Fork to replace an aging water line, along with full pavement replacement. The project will also include targeted asphalt improvements for all of Tripp between Collins and Rebecca, along with Rebecca between Tripp and US 80. The Town is aware of the poor condition of the pavement surface along this stretch, so these initial improvements will start soon after the contract is awarded to help improve rideability.

The Town Council awarded the construction contract to Reliable Paving, Inc. at the May 12 meeting. Construction is expected to get underway in early June, and the contract includes incentives for the contractor to complete the portion adjacent to SISD before school starts in August. The remainder of the project is expected to wrap up in early 2026.

The Town Council also awarded a design contract at the April 28 meeting for a similar water line and pavement replacement project along the rest of Tripp Road between East Fork and Rebecca, and Rebecca from Tripp Road to US Highway 80. These design activities are expected to continue into early 2026, when that section will be ready for construction bidding.

Learn more about this pet and others on our Petfinder page

Slim is a 3-year-old Yellow Lab. He was recently heartworm positive and has completed most treatment, with a round of Pro Heart Plus due in August: Hello there, I'm Slim! Life in this shelter is full of fun and games. I'm always eager to play, whether it's a game of fetch or a gentle tug of war. I've got energy to spare and love sharing it with everyone I meet. My friendly nature makes me a hit with humans and fellow canines. I'm a sweet soul who's always up for a cuddle or a friendly pat. I'm as loyal as they come, and I promise to bring joy and laughter to your home. Why should you adopt me? Because I'm Slim, your future best friend, ready to fill your life with love, fun, and endless playtime!

Shaggy is a seven-month-old Airedale Wire Terrier. He is fully vetted & neutered: Hi there, I'm Shaggy! I'm just a pup, but boy, do I have energy! I love to play, and I can make anything into a game. A crumpled paper ball? That's a soccer match waiting to happen! I'm a bit goofy, too. I can't help but trip over my own paws sometimes. But that's all part of the fun, right? My days are filled with play, naps, and more play. I can't wait to find my forever home, where I can share all this energy and love. If you're looking for a playful, goofy, energetic friend, I'm your pup!

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to add a member, we currently have many adoptable animals in our shelter looking for a new place to call home.
