East Tripp Road Construction Will Begin Soon

Construction will soon begin along East Tripp Road between Collins and East Fork to replace an aging water line, along with full pavement replacement. The project will also include targeted asphalt improvements for all of Tripp between Collins and Rebecca, along with Rebecca between Tripp and US 80. The Town is aware of the poor condition of the pavement surface along this stretch, so these initial improvements will start soon after the contract is awarded to help improve rideability.

Construction bids were opened on Tuesday, April 29, for the project, and the Town Council is expected to award the construction contract at the May 12 meeting. Construction is expected to get underway in early to mid-June, and the contract includes incentives for the contractor to complete the portion adjacent to SISD before school starts in August. The remainder of the project is expected to wrap up in early 2026.

The Town Council also awarded a design contract at the April 28 meeting for a similar water line and pavement replacement project along the rest of Tripp Road between East Fork and Rebecca, and Rebecca from Tripp Road to US Highway 80. These design activities are expected to continue into early 2026, when that section will be ready for construction bidding.

Callie is a 1-year-old Female Great Dane Mix, fully vetted and spayed:

Hi there, I'm Callie. I'm still just a puppy, but full of courage and smarts. I love solving puzzles, especially if they lead to treats! I'm gentle with everyone I meet and try my best to make them smile. I've learned so many things here, like how to sit and stay, but I want to know about the world outside. I've never had a family before. Adopt me, and let's explore the world together!

Diesel is a 3-year-old Male Husky, fully vetted and neutered:

Hi there, I'm Diesel! My days are filled with boundless energy and playfulness. I love a good game of fetch and am always ready for a fun adventure. My heart is full of love, and I'm eager to share it. When I'm not busy playing, I'm a sweet, gentle soul who loves nothing more than a good cuddle. I've got a lot of love to give, and I'm looking for someone to share it with. I promise to be your loyal companion, playmate, and confidante!

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to add a member, we currently have many adoptable animals in our shelter looking for a new place to call home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.

Property Tax Exemptions and Appraisal Information

Property owners in Dallas County, including Sunnyvale, should receive their latest property appraisal notices soon.

Sunnyvale’s residential and business property owners should be aware that the Town of Sunnyvale has approved the highest exemption rates of any municipality in Dallas County. That 20% Homestead Exemption rate is one of several property tax exemptions provided by Sunnyvale that leaves more than $1 billion in taxable value in the pockets of the Town’s taxpayers. To make sure you have the proper exemptions applied to your property, visit the Dallas County Appraisal District website at www.dallascad.org to get more information and check your exemption status.

Property owners who wish to protest Dallas CAD’s latest appraised value can also check that website and click on Protest Process to learn more about those procedures and requirements. Property owners have until May 15, 2025, to protest their property value.

Conserve Water and Preserve Water Quality

Make sure your lawn sprinklers and water downspouts are directed toward green areas and landscaping only. There's no need to water the concrete! These extra steps reduce runoff and conserve water. The Town of Sunnyvale has many water conservation resources available on its website.
