Election Results

Sunnyvale voters went to the polls earlier this week to elect a new Town Council representative for Place 4, which was recently vacated before the term was finished.

Unofficial vote totals indicate Holly Garland was approved by voters to fill the seat through May 2026.

The Sunnyvale Town Council is scheduled to canvass the vote during its Nov. 10 meeting. Garland is expected to be sworn in at that time.

Voters also considered 17 amendments to the Texas Constitution. Complete results are available on the Dallas County elections website.

The Town of Sunnyvale is seeking public input for a new animal shelter. The Town's existing shelter is not sufficient for the needs of our community and lacks amenities considered standard in modern shelters. The Town is gathering input through an online survey. Those suggestions and insights will be reviewed by a citizen committee as part of the design process by the Town's project contractor, KSA.

The committee is scheduled to meet on Tuesday, Dec. 2, at 2 p.m. at Sunnyvale Town Hall, 127 N. Collins Road. This meeting is open to the public and provides another opportunity for input.

Salute to Veterans 2025 - Saturday Morning

Sunnyvale is proud to host its annual Salute to Veterans. This year, the event will take place on Saturday, Nov. 8 from 9 to 11 a.m. at Sunnyvale Town Hall (127 N. Collins Road, Sunnyvale, TX).

The morning will begin with a breakfast. Bagpipe music will signal the beginning of the program, which will feature the Presentation of Colors and the Pledge of Allegiance, words from the mayor and other special speakers, a presentation of challenge coins and the singing of the National Anthem.

Veterans are encouraged to pre-register for the event so we can properly recognize you. A pre-registration link is available on the event webpage.

Don't miss this opportunity to express your appreciation to those who have served.

Talk to Taffy!

Learn more about this pet and others on our Petfinder page

Taffy is a two-year-old female Mixed Breed: Hi! I'm Taffy. I love sniffing around and discovering new things, but I might need a little time to come out of my shell. I'm quite friendly once I get to know you, and I adore gentle pats and kind words. I'm curious about everything! Maybe we could explore the world together? I promise to be a sweet companion who listens well and loves quietly. If you're looking for a loyal friend who's always there to brighten your day, I'm the one! Let's make wonderful memories together. Call to set up a "Meet and Greet" appointment.

We would love for you to share this with others and bring awareness to the Sunnyvale Animal Shelter's animals and services. If your family is ready to welcome a new member, we currently have many adoptable pets in our shelter looking for a loving home. Learn more by visiting our Petfinder page or calling (214) 862-4525.
