Now in Session for Class of 2025

The Weston University program is back in session with a new group of students for the program’s Class of 2025. The diverse group of students represent a variety of schools, including Cypress Bay and Western High School, Sagemont Preparatory, and Xceed Preparatory Academy. On the first program day, held last Tuesday, the group received an overview of Weston’s history and municipal operations from speakers that included Mayor Margaret Brown, City Manager Don Decker, and City Attorney Jamie Alan Cole.
Students will meet monthly through April 2025 for a deep dive into the operations and work expertise of a variety of departments.

Potential Tropical Cyclone Nine Could Impact Florida
Stay Informed
The National Hurricane Center is monitoring the development of a potential tropical storm that could develop into a major hurricane later this week. Although it is too early to pinpoint the exact location oand magnitude of the storm's impact, there is a potential for storm surge and damaging winds along Florida's west coast and the panhandle. Although the east coast of South Florida is not projected to have a direct impact, it is important to review your storm preparations in advance of any projected impact.

Diaper Donations Accepted at City Hall through September 30 | The end of the month is near and we are collecting unopened packages of diapers at Weston City Hall to support Diaper Needs Awareness Week. Your diaper donations help support local families and help ensure access to vital childcare necessities for new parents. Our collection bin is located outside Weston City Hall and is open 24/7 - just drive up and drop off. Donations of diapers of all sizes will be accepted through September 30. Thank you for your continued support of our mission to give back to our neighbors throughout Broward County. | |
Decisive Lifesaving Actions Save Driver
Weston BSO Fire Rescue/EMS
| The Weston BSO Fire Rescue/EMS Employees of the Month for September 2024 were honored for their quick actions that saved the life of a driver after a single-vehicle crash of an electric vehicle. Lieutenant Kyle Robbins, Firefighter/Paramedics; Kimberly Buhr and Gregory Stavrinos (Rescue 81); Lieutenant Rafael Pinzon, Driver Engineer Aaron Guest and Firefighter/Paramedic Robert Parra, (Engine 81); and EMS Supervisor Captain Brent Edwards were honored at the City Commission meeting on September 12 for their work to quickly assess the medical needs of the driver that was extracted from the vehicle which quickly ignited into an electrical fire that took three hours to extinguish. | |
October is Almost Here! Time for Quarterly Bulk Trash Service |
Bulk pickup MONTH is almost here. Since June, dates are no longer limited to one week during the month. Collection for some locations begins as early as the first Monday of the month.
You now have a specific day of the month that your bulk trash will be picked up. The service schedule divides the City of Weston into smaller sections that will be serviced each day throughout the month. This new schedule helps to reduce delays and increase efficiency.
Refer to the Interactive Map for Solid Waste Collection to verify your service day. It is highly recommended to use Chrome as your browser. Click on the Map and type your address into the search bar. Click on your property (or neighborhood) on the map and a pop-up box will show the days for garbage, recycling and bulk pickup for your community.

The Mayors' Chess Challenge Returns on October 5

Calling all chess enthusiasts! The City of Weston is excited to host the Mayor's Chess Challenge on Saturday, October 5, and Mayor Margaret Brown invite you to stop by the Weston Community Center anytime from 10 a.m. to noon. This free, family-friendly event invites players of all ages and skill levels to enjoy a morning of chess, strategy and community fun.
The Mayors' Chess Challenge is part of a countywide initiative promoting the educational benefits of chess, such as improving critical thinking and problem-solving skills. Whether you’re a beginner or an experienced player, you’ll have the chance to test your skills against fellow chess lovers and even play alongside Weston’s Mayor Margaret Brown. All supplies are provided, so just bring your best moves!
All ages are welcome. Registration is not required.

Just like you did for each member of your family, make your pet their own go kit with food, medication, vaccine records and necessary toys. MAP Broward
Also known as the Penny for Transportation surtax, MAP Broward, the County's Mobility Advancement Program is the agency that oversees the allocation of funding for transportation improvement projects throughout Broward. All county and municipal projects funded by the transportation surtax are evaluated for eligibility by the independent Transportation Surtax Oversight Board. After eligibility has been determined, the Oversight Board submits a list of eligible projects to the Board of County Commissioners for their Budgetary approval.
