May is National Water Safety Month
This month we are recognizing Water Safety Month to raise awareness of the importance of safe and responsible behavior around water. The purpose of this campaign is to educate people about the dangers of drowning and other water-related accidents, and to promote safe practices such as learning to swim, wearing life jackets, and supervising children around water.

Water safety month is a great opportunity to learn new skills, refresh old ones, and spread the word about the importance of water safety in our communities. By following simple safety guidelines, we can all enjoy our time around the water and prevent unnecessary accidents and tragedies.

Energy Saving Programs
Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) and My Safe Florida Home
Beat the energy bills with Florida energy saving programs. The Property Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) program is a financing option for energy efficiency residential or commercial projects to reduce on-site electric usage, assist in hurricane protection, and/or produce onsite renewable electricity, such as cool and green roofs, impact windows, energy efficient air conditioning units, and more. Property owners repay through a special assessment added to their annual property tax bill.

The State of Florida has also allocated $115 million to the My Safe Florida Home program to fund grants to homeowners of single-family homes that would benefit from home improvements that will strengthen the home for potential wind damage by storms in the future. Eligible work includes re-roofing or retrofitting the roof structure, installation of hurricane shutters or impact windows, installation of impact-rated exterior door and garage doors.

Homeowners will realize additional savings through June 30, 2024, as sales tax is exempt on purchases of impact-resistant doors, impact-resistant garage doors and impact-resistant windows.
Sales Tax Holiday Ends June 30
Baby Clothing, Diapers and ENERGY STAR Appliances
The last day to take advantage of the Florida sales tax holiday on baby clothing, diapers and ENERGY STAR appliances – refrigerators, freezers, washers, dryers and heaters – is Friday, June 30.

The state legislature may authorize additional tax savings on these or other items in the future, but the current sales tax holidays are set to expire.
