City of Weston thanks those who served our country for Veterans Day
To All Veterans: Thank You for Your Service
In 1918, on the eleventh hour, of the eleventh day, of the eleventh month, a temporary cessation of hostilities effectively ended World War I. Originally proclaimed Armistice Day, President Wilson said at the time, “the reflections of Armistice Day will be filled with solemn pride in the heroism of those who died in the country’s service and with gratitude for the victory...” Armistice was declared a legal holiday in 1938 before becoming a day to honor American Veterans of all wars in 1954 – Veterans Day.

Each year, Weston joins the nation in recognizing our American military veterans. Weston is proud to have veterans seated on our City Commission, running local small businesses, active in our youth sports programs and helping organize local community groups. We thank each American military veteran, in the city and beyond, for their service, patriotism and commitment to the common good. Have a happy and safe Veterans Day.

Veterans Day Holiday to be Observed on Friday, Nov. 10
All City administrative offices (City Hall, the Community Center, the Public Works Services Center, and the Building Department) will be closed on Friday, November 10 in observance of Veterans Day. All City parks will remain open and there will be regularly scheduled garbage collection.

When a flag is worn, tattered, ripped, or soiled beyond repair, it is no longer fit to serve as a symbol of our country and should be retired and disposed of properly. American flags deposited in the boxes will be collected and disposed of properly and should be folded appropriately before being placed in the box. The City will take care of the proper disposal.
