We Want to Hear From YOU!
Take the Parks & Recreation Master Plan Survey
What do you want to see in Weston parks, programming and services? Now is the time to speak up and share your ideas! Weston is developing a Parks and Recreation Master Plan that will determine the need for improvements to existing parks, facilities, and programs, and to help identify priorities for the next 10 years.
Election Season is Almost Here
New Redistricting Maps, Precincts in Effect
Florida’s primary elections will be held on August 23; with early voting beginning on August 13. If you are registered to vote in Broward County, you should have already received your new voter registration card from the Broward Supervisor of Elections Office. Your new card reflects the changes resulting from the redistricting process following the 2020 Census.

Your precinct number and district numbers for the representatives that you elect at the local, state and federal level may have changed. Your polling location may have also changed. Be election ready this season.

We Rise Up for Parks and Recreation
July is National Park and Recreation Month
This year’s theme for the month-long recognition of all things park and recreation exemplifies how parks are integral to our community’s well-being.

With 15 parks for family fun and sports activities in Weston, there is something for everyone to enjoy. The City's Parks and Recreation Department staff work hard to provide opportunities to improve physical and mental health, offers educational activities and active sports programs, critical childhood development programs and environmental education. And let's not forget our Landscaping Department, who works hard to maintain the natural beauty of our signature greenspaces.

Weston’s Parks and lushly landscaped public spaces enhance the ecological beauty of our community and allow us to connect with the outdoors.

Thank you to the Weston team for their passion to rise up and serve our community.

BSO Chip-a-Pet Program Proves Popular in Weston
Over 60 pets were microchipped and/or received their rabies vaccinations at the Broward Sheriff’s Office Chip-a-Pet event held in Weston last Saturday. This was the first time this event was held in Weston and it was such a success that BSO Weston is already planning to host another one in the coming months.

Special thanks to the Humane Society of Broward County and BSO for offering this program in Weston. The event offers two important services for pet owners. Annual rabies vaccinations, which are required in Broward County, and microchips, which provide a necessary link between families and pets in the event that they get separated. Collars with pet identification are also very helpful, but lost pets can (and frequently do) lose their collar.

If you were not able to be assisted at this event, stay connected with us as we will announce another event once plans are finalized.
Hurricane Preparedness
Make a Go Kit
It’s hard to anticipate what you will have to deal with in an emergency, so staying prepared is important. Every household should keep an emergency “Go Kit” in the event you may have to evacuate or shelter in place for a hurricane. Some of the essentials include: a copy of vital records of every family member in a water-proof container, a first-aid kit, extra batteries and chargers, list of medications and allergies or special medical conditions, flashlights, non-perishable snacks, and more.
Bike Safety in Weston
Cyclists Can Repair Bikes on the Go
Not new to Weston parks, but perhaps new to you: Fixit Bike Repair Stations. If you are a bike rider at any level, there are seven of these repair stations, conveniently located in City parks all around town should you need to make minor repairs to your bike, such as fixing a flat or adjusting your brakes, while riding in the City.

Water Smart Weston
Reach, Throw, Don't Go
Did you know that in Broward County, drowning is the leading cause of unintentional death among children ages one through four? A summer splash in the pool is refreshing under the South Florida sun, but while you and your kids are having fun, it is important to remember this safety tip. If a person is struggling in the water, don’t be the hero. Use the method reach, throw, don’t go

Keep Your Pets Safe During Summer Heat
You might be having fun under the South Florida sun, but don’t forget your pet. Pets can suffer from heat-related illnesses, and it is important to protect and prevent your furry-friend from the sun.

Be sure to not leave your pet in a vehicle, even with the windows down. Remember to keep your pets in the shade, hydrated, and reduce heavy exercise in high temperatures. Be mindful of hot pavement on their sensitive paws, and don’t forget the summer haircut and animal-specific sunscreen. Click below to learn more about heat stroke symptoms.
