"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Hybrid Sunday Worship

The Fifth Sunday of Epiphany

February 4, 2024

In Isaiah the one God who sits above the earth and numbers the stars also strengthens the powerless. So in Jesus’ healing work we see the hand of the creator God, lifting up the sick woman to health and service (diakonia). Like Simon’s mother-in-law, we are lifted up and healed to serve. Following Jesus, we strengthen the powerless; like Jesus, we seek to renew our own strength in quiet times of prayer.

Feeding Our Faith Sunday Morning Class

9:00 am, Fellowship Hall

Gatherings include viewing short videos and lively discussions. You can participate either in-person or via Zoom.

February 4 – March 3: Contemplative Vision: Awakening to Beauty, Truth, and Goodness

As we enter the Lenten and Easter Seasons, we’ll watch and discuss videos from a conference put on by Contemplative Outreach in 2007 featuring Father Richard Rohr and Father Thomas Keating, two renowned teachers of contemplative spirituality. Richard Rohr is a prolific author and speaker who founded the Center for Action and Contemplation in Albuquerque, New Mexico. Thomas Keating, who died in 2018, was a Trappist monk known as one of the principal developers of Centering Prayer, a contemporary method of contemplative prayer. Contemplation is the well from which all our action in doing justice flows. It keeps the fire of God’s love burning and inhibits our burning out.

Hello volunteers!

This is the sign-up for the Overnight Shelter (OS) at Beth Emet – 1224 Dempster Street. Use the Ridge Avenue entrance. We will be using google docs for sign-up and have provided written instructions/rules below. Please click on this link to sign up (read instructions/rules first). Check often to see if any spots remain open or open up. LINK:

Instructions/Rules for Interfaith EOS Google docs Sign-up

Click on the link (you will need to get the googledocs app if you're on your phone).

You will see that each date has one or two “set up" and "clean up" spaces.

Pick one, two or three dates/times that you would like to volunteer. Type your first and last name in the corresponding blank spots. Remember your dates.

Do NOT type your name into a spot that already has a name in it or contains text.

Do NOT delete/strikethrough other people's names or text.

If you would like to sign up for more than three positions, you may do so, but wait several days so others have a chance to sign up first.

Save this message so you can go back and view the list if you need to make any changes or have forgotten the dates/times for which you signed up.

If you make a mistake, try using the "undo" button (arrow at the top left that faces down and to the left). This document can get messy, which is fine, as long as we can see a name in each spot. We will try to clear up any major errors.

If you signed up for something but need to cancel, click the link and go back and delete your name. Some people on phones or tablets may encounter problems deleting their names. You can try using the "undo" button located at the top left that points down and left (the "redo" button points down and right). You can also try the "strikethrough" option under the formatting -> text -> strikethrough menu at the top.

You might receive an email message/s that I have deleted your comment. This happens when I’m cleaning up the document and getting rid of any extra marks/mistakes or names that contain a strikethrough. This can also happen if I’m deleting names from an old sign-up to re purpose it into a new one. I will not delete your name unless we have discussed doing so.

This is a live document. That means you may see other volunteers typing their names into spots in real time. Please be courteous and do not delete/write over other people's names. Avoid getting into a typing war.

You do not need to click "save". It updates automatically.
