"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Hybrid Sunday Worship

The Twenty-fifth Sunday After Pentecost

November 19, 2023

Our readings during November speak of the end times. Zephaniah proclaims that the coming day of the LORD will be filled with wrath and distress. Paul says it will come like a thief in the night and urges us to be awake and sober. Jesus tells the parable of the talents, calling us to use our gifts, while we still have time, for the greater and common good. In a world filled with violence and despair, we gather around signs of hope—word, water, bread, and wine—eager to welcome the good news of Christ’s coming among us.

Meal Train® for Lutheran Campus Ministry at Northwestern University

LCMNU has a weekly "Supper Worship" on Wednesdays at 6-6:45pm, and we are looking for volunteers to provide meals for students. Supper Worship is a worship service that begins with gathering around the table at 6pm for our table prayer; sharing in the meal (served buffet style) and fellowship from 6-6:3 pm; then, at 6:30-6:45 pm, we have a brief evening prayer service right at the table. Currently, 16-20 students are attending, but you can always check ahead of time on the number. You also can join in Supper Worship. Thank you in advance for providing a community meal.

With gratitude, Pastor Deanna

SPECIAL NOTICE: TEMPORARY "PAUSE" ON DONATIONS for Migrants/Refugees EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY

"Because of the incredible generosity of the Evanston community we need to pause donation drop-offs (for migrants/refugees in the City of Chicago) until further notice while we sort through what has come in," said Chris Djuric, Coordinator. Chi Welcome, the volunteer entity who has been picking up and distributing items, needs time to realign their distribution network, too.

Please tell your family and friends about this temporary pause, and to hold off on bringing donations to the church. The goal is to resume collection after the Thanksgiving holiday.
