"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Hybrid Sunday Worship

Reformation Sunday

October 27, 2024, 10:30 am

Joint Worship Service at

St. Paul's Lutheran Church

1004 Greenwood St., Evanston

Rooted in the past and growing into the future, the church must always be reformed in order to live out the love of Christ in an ever-changing world. We celebrate the good news of God’s grace, that Jesus Christ sets us free every day to do this life-transforming work. Trusting in the freedom given to us in baptism, we pray for the church, that Christians will unite more fully in worship and mission.

Sunday Worship

Prelude begins at 10:20 am

Service at 10:30 am

We are worshipping together in a joint celebration of Reformation Sunday at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, which is a short walk to the west of Immanuel. Members from the Immanuel Choir and singers from St. John's, St. Timothy's and Grace will sing, and Pr. Mark will deliver the sermon.

After worship, all are invited to a post-worship Potluck Meal for conversation and fellowship! To keep the meal donations balanced, the churches have received food and beverage assignments (although all contributions are welcome) and Immanuel is asked to provide Salads/Sides. Please contribute if you are able.

Masks are optional during in-person worship service. For the livestreaming Worship service, you can join via St. Paul's YouTube link. Click the button below.

All Saints Remembrances

All Saints Sunday

Sunday, November 3, 2024

On Sunday, Nov. 3, 2024, we will be observing All Saints Sunday, the day on which we give thanks for all of God’s holy ones, including those who have been dear to us in our own lives.

During the service, we will light candles and name the names of those who have been baptized this year, those who have died in the Lord in the past year, and those who have died in earlier years.

We invite you to offer the names of those you would like us to remember. We will print a list of the names in the bulletin that week. Please complete the Remembrances form by clicking here:

The Justice & Equity Ministry Presents...

Civil Rights and Social Justice on the North Shore in Our Community and Our Schools

Sunday, November 10, 2024, Coffee Hour (Noon)

The Justice & Equity Ministry is pleased to present its November Guest Speaker, Todd Maxman. Todd will give a presentation following worship service/during Coffee Hour on Sunday, Nov. 10th. He has been teaching and advising at New Trier for nearly 30 years now (gasp!). For most of that time he has been a Social Studies teacher. Before that, he was stationed on submarines in the US Navy for five years. Todd was raised in Evanston and is an ETHS grad.

Todd has been active at New Trier in its efforts to make it a more inclusive and intentionally anti-racist place to live and grow. He is very proud of his work as a co-sponsor of the Student Voices in Equity group and co-creating two new courses: Civics and Social Justice and Leadership in Social Justice at New Trier. Currently, Todd is teaching in the Integrated Global Studies School, a small school-within-a-school for self-directed learners at the Winnetka campus. A resident of Wilmette, Todd's two children are recent New Trier graduates.

Organ Scholar Concert

Hansol Kim

Saturday, November 16, 2024, 3:00 pm

Immanuel Sanctuary

You're invited to another afternoon of beautiful music with a recital by the Organ Scholar Program Graduate Student Awardee, Hansol Kim, on Sat. Nov. 16, 2024 at 3:00 pm in the Immanuel Sanctuary. The performance will be available via Zoom, too. Hansol's repertoire features works by Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy, Johann Sebastian Bach, Robert Schumann, Rachel Laurin, Max Reger, and Sigfrid Karg-Elert.

After the performance, Hansol will be presented the award by the Organ Scholar Committee and Jury. A champagne reception follows in Fellowship Hall. Please invite your friends and family. Admission is free.

Originally from Busan, South Korea, Hansol Kim is a passionate organist, choral accompanist, conductor, and church musician. She began studying piano at the age of five and discovered the majestic sound of the organ at 13, sparking a lifelong love for sacred music. Hansol is currently a graduate student at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music, where she studies organ under Dr. Janette Fishell and sacred music and improvisation with Dr. Jeffrey Smith.

Additionally, she has been a recipient of the Chairman’s Scholar Award Fellowship, The Robert C. Rayfield Memorial Scholarship, and the Wilma Jensen Scholarship from the Jacobs School of Music.

As a performer, her achievements include winning first prize in the Fox Valley Organ Competition and Strader Organ Competition and second prize in the Sursa American Competition. She was also a finalist in the Asia Organ Competition and a semi-finalist in the International Alexander Goedicke Organ Competition in Russia.

Hansol’s deep passion for the organ and sacred music has led her to serve as the organist and Assistant Music Director at First United Church in Bloomington, Indiana. In this role, she brings both brilliance and dedication, leading the bell choir and assisting the Music Director by rehearsing and conducting the choir. Her connection to the church community runs deep, and she finds immense fulfillment in using her musical gifts to inspire and uplift others.
