Spiritual Direction Groups forming for the Autumn
Group spiritual direction is a process in which participants help each other pay closer attention to the movement of the Spirit in their lives. Group participants don’t attempt to fix or repair one another, but ask questions like, “Where do you sense God in this experience?” or “What is God’s desire for you now?”
The goal is to deepen God moments, which include both times of consolation and anguish. In our spiritual journey everything belongs. In the process of spiritual direction, the Holy Spirit is the true guide, participants seek to assist one another in discernment of the Spirit’s guidance. Our times of sharing and responding are interspersed with silence, which allows the group the sacred space necessary for discernment.
The groups are facilitated by Kit McCarthy and Pastor Mark Sloss, both trained Spiritual Directors. There will be 3 or 4 participants in each group, meeting monthly for 1-1/2 hours for nine months. We plan to have day and night groups on a set day each month (i.e., Second Wednesday or Third Tuesday) beginning this Fall.
