"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Hybrid Sunday Worship

The Twenty-first Sunday of Pentecost

Sunday, October 18, 2026

Service at 10:30 am

In today’s first reading God uses the Gentile ruler Cyrus to accomplish divine purposes. When the Pharisees try to trap Jesus, he tells them to give the emperor what belongs to him and to God what belongs to God. To gather for worship reminds us that our ultimate allegiance is to God rather than to any earthly authority. Created in the image of God, we offer our entire selves in the service of God and for the sake of the world.

Stewardship 2026-27

Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ,

Reaching Out with a Shout of Joy!

Stewardship Sunday is this Sunday, October 18, 2026. We give thanks for your participation in the life and work of Immanuel Lutheran Church. To highlight this congregation’s love of music, our stewardship theme this year is Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ, Reaching Out with a Shout of Joy. Together, in the last few weeks we have reflected on these two questions: What gifts has God entrusted to me? And how can I employ them joyfully in the life and mission of Immanuel?

Please prayerfully consider how your reaching out in joy will be reflected in your generous response to God’s blessings and love in support of the 2027 ministries of Immanuel. To watch Mission Moment Talks given by Jim Miller, Jane Kaihatsu & Jimmy Morehead, during service, visit our YouTube channel and click here.

The Statement of Intent will be received during worship on Sunday, October 18th. If you will not be present that day, you can mail your commitment to the church office. A downloadable form which you can fill out is below. Or, if you prefer, click here or go to our website on the Stewardship tab (under What’s Going On) and complete the form version of the intent card and submit it.

Thank you for your gifts of time, talent, and treasure, as together we employ our talents and tongues in joyfully sharing the good news of God’s transforming love and grace.

Sincerely in Christ,

The Stewardship Team

Pastor Mark E. Sloss, Michael Kloster, Anne Heider, Greg Hummel, Laurie Stivers, Terri Simchak, Kathy Skelton

All Saints' Sunday Remembrances

On Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, we will be observing All Saints Sunday, the day on which we give thanks for all of God’s holy ones, including those who have been dear to us in our own lives. During the service, we will light candles and name the names of those who have been baptized this year, those who have died in the Lord in the past year, and those who have died in earlier years. We invite you to offer the names of those you would like us to remember. We will print a list of the names in the bulletin that week.

Click here to access the All Saints Remembrance form. Hard copy forms are available at this Sunday, Oct. 18th's worship service. Please provide the information to the church office by Monday, Oct. 26th.

Organ Scholar Concert - Áron Sipos

The first Autumn concert series began with the performance by the Undergraduate Organ Scholar awardee, Áron Sipos this past Saturday, Oct. 10th. His selections included works by J.S. Bach, Georg Böhm, Josef Rheinberger, Robert Schumann, Rachel Laurin, and a rousing, athletic performance of a work by Raffaele Manari. For a program booklet and to watch a recording, click here for Immanuel's Organ Scholar Concert webpage.

Áron is Immanuel's first international student Organ Scholar awardee, as he is studying at McGill University in Montreal. And he brought an international audience to the concert, due to his many family and friends who watched his performance from both Canada and Hungary, from where Áron originally hails. After receiving his medallion and scholarship, a champagne reception was enjoyed where concert-goers met and congratulated Áron.

A huge thank-you to the Music Outreach Committee and the Organ Scholar Committee for their hard work through the application, jury processes, and logistics for Aron's travel, concert audio/visual & IT play, and for the champagne reception. The Organ Scholar Concert series is a signature Immanuel event. The next Organ Scholar Concert will feature Gege Bi, Graduate Student awardee. She is a student at the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester. Gege will perform on Saturday, November 21, 2026 at 3:00 pm in the sanctuary. We look forward to seeing you next month!

Books are Still Being Collected for

Books to Bethlehem/Bright Stars of Bethlehem Celebrates Palestine!

Bright Stars of Bethlehem is hosting a trip November 2 - 11, 2026 to fully engage with the land, the people, and the culture of Palestine. Pr. Mark and Susan Sloss will join the trip. Dar al-Kalima University needs books and resources for their ever-growing library. This is where you come in. Pr. Mark and Susan will pack your book purchase donations and bring them along. Or, you can donate monetarily to the Books to Bethlehem.

Visit this list at Amazon. (Please use AmazonSmile in order to give back to Bright Stars with every Amazon purchase you make!)

  • Purchase the materials and have them shipped to you
  • Write your name and where you are from on the inside cover
  • Bring them to Immanuel/Pr. Mark where they'll be collected until departure

You may ask, “Why not just ship it directly there?” Unfortunately, shipping books directly to Palestine is not the best option because mail and packages never arrive at their destination. Thanks for bringing needed materials to further the education of our students at the university!
