"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Hybrid Sunday Worship

Reformation Sunday

Sunday, October 25, 2026

Service at 10:30 am

at St. John's Lutheran Church, Wilmette

Rooted in the past and growing into the future, the church must always be reformed in order to live out the love of Christ in an ever-changing world. We celebrate the good news of God’s grace, that Jesus Christ sets us free every day to do this life-transforming work. Trusting in the freedom given to us in baptism, we pray for the church, that Christians will unite more fully in worship and mission.

Special Joint Sunday Worship

Service at 10:30 am

This Sunday we're celebrating a Joint Worship Service with St. John's Lutheran Church, 1235 Wilmette Avenue, Wilmette, at the corner of Wilmette Ave. and Park Ave., across from the Wilmette Public Library. Please wear the color RED. Newly elected ELCA Bishop Erik Christensen will be a guest speaker.

Masks are optional during in-person worship service. For the livestreaming Worship service, you can join by clicking on the button below and scrolling down to find the Sunday, October 25, 2026 worship service link on St. John's YouTube page.

After worship, stay for a potluck Coffee Hour! If you are able, please bring a treat/snack, savory or sweet -- to share. Prior to the start of worship, bring your food to the Kitchen and someone will take care of it. Your contributions will be greatly appreciated.

Feeding Our Faith will not be held this Sunday. See you next Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026 at 9:00 am. We'll start a new discussion topic, How Can We Reclaim Jesus from Empire?

Discussion addresses the concerns many of us are carrying about white nationalism, the weaponization of Jesus’s teachings, and our current times.

Just a reminder that if you made a reservation, the Vision Keepers 2026 Annual Fundraising dinner is this Sunday, Oct. 25th at 5:30 pm at the Hilton Orrington Hotel, Evanston. We gather to honor Immanuel's 2026 Vision Keepers, Kathryn & Jim Skelton and all of the other nominees from other faith communities, doing the good work of Interfaith Action. All Saints' Sunday Remembrances

Next Sunday, Nov. 1, 2026, we will be observing All Saints Sunday, the day on which we give thanks for all of God’s holy ones, including those who have been dear to us in our own lives. During the service, we will light candles and name the names of those who have been baptized this year, those who have died in the Lord in the past year, and those who have died in earlier years. We invite you to offer the names of those you would like us to remember. We will print a list of the names in the bulletin that week. Click here to access the All Saints Remembrance form. Please provide the information to the church office by Monday, Oct. 26th.

Stewardship 2026-27

Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ,

Reaching Out with a Shout of Joy!

We give thanks for your participation in the life and work of Immanuel Lutheran Church. To highlight this congregation’s love of music, our stewardship theme this year is Let Us Talents and Tongues Employ, Reaching Out with a Shout of Joy. Please prayerfully consider how your reaching out in joy will be reflected in your generous response to God’s blessings and love in support of the 2027 ministries of Immanuel. To watch Mission Moment Talks given by Jim Miller, Jane Kaihatsu & Jimmy Morehead, during service, visit our YouTube channel and click here.

The Statement of Intent was received during worship on Sunday, October 18th. If you could not be present that day, you can mail your commitment to the church office. A downloadable form which you can print & fill out is below. Or, if you prefer, click here or go to our website on the Stewardship tab (under What’s Going On) and complete the intent card form and submit it. Thank you for your gifts of time, talent, and treasure, as together we employ our talents and tongues in joyfully sharing the good news of God’s transforming love and grace.

Sincerely in Christ,

The Stewardship Team

FINAL WEEK! Books are Still Being Collected for Books to Bethlehem/Bright Stars of Bethlehem Celebrates Palestine!

Bright Stars of Bethlehem is hosting a trip November 2 - 11, 2026 to fully engage with the land, the people, and the culture of Palestine. Pr. Mark and Susan Sloss will join the trip. Dar al-Kalima University needs books and resources for their ever-growing library. This is where you come in. Pr. Mark and Susan will pack your book purchase donations and bring them along. Or, you can donate monetarily to the Books to Bethlehem. Visit this list at Amazon. (Please use AmazonSmile in order to give back to Bright Stars with every Amazon purchase you make!)

  • Purchase the materials and have them shipped to you
  • Write your name and where you are from on the inside cover
  • Bring them to Immanuel/Pr. Mark where they'll be collected until departure

You may ask, “Why not just ship it directly there?” Unfortunately, shipping books directly to Palestine is not the best option because mail and packages never arrive at their destination. Thanks for bringing needed materials to further the education of our students at the university!

A Reconciling in Christ congregation.
