"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Hybrid Sunday Worship

The Tenth Sunday of Pentecost

August 2, 2026

Service at 10:30 am

In today’s first reading God invites all who are hungry or thirsty to receive food and drink without cost. Jesus feeds the hungry multitude and reveals the abundance of God. At the eucharistic table we remember all who are hungry or poor in our world today. As we share the bread of life, we are sent forth to give ourselves away as bread for the hungry.

Sunday Worship

"Strength & Honor"

for

National Underwear Day!

Final Sunday for Collection is this Sunday, Aug. 2nd!

At the past week's Lutheran Collective meeting, the upcoming underwear collection drive for Connections for the Homeless was discussed. Underwear is a big need for agencies, and this drive helps put a bit of a dent in the need for Connections.

A friendly, inter-congregational competition was hatched! Which congregation can supply the most underwear?! Each congregation will be responsible for counting the number of pairs of underwear they collect to determine the winner. At our next joint worship, Reformation, the winning congregation will be announced and recognized!

Participating congregations:

  • Trinity Lutheran Church
  • St. John's Lutheran - Wilmette
  • St. Paul's Lutheran
  • Immanuel Lutheran
  • Grace Lutheran

The Goods (from Connections)

New, in-package, adult underwear is one of our greatest needs. It's a resource that we don't have a sustainable solution for (unlike Bombas socks, hygiene kit drives, community-support clothing donations, etc.). National Underwear Day was a marketing scheme created by underwear brands, and last year we wondered if we could use that "holiday" to mobilize our community to help meet this most basic need.

This year we have set a new goal of collection 5,000 pairs of underwear to benefit Hilda's Place.

Collection Logistics

Dates: Now through August 2nd

Items: New, adult underwear

Men's boxer briefs, sizes S-XL (we have enough size XXL+)

Women's briefs, sizes S-XL (we have enough size XXL+)

See our (click the orange) Amazon wish list for examples

Underwear will be collected at Immanuel on August 2nd. There is a labeled box in Fellowship Hall by the stage. Or drop them off to the church office Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursday.

There will be a National Underwear Day Drive-Through Party on Saturday, August 8th at 9am-11am at Hilda's Place, across the street on Lake St. from Immanuel.
