"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Immanuel Welcomes
Serve Boldly - Green Lake Lutheran Ministries
Youth Service Plan | Chicago, IL | July 6 -11, 2025
Hosted by Immanuel Lutheran Church, Evanston
Beginning on this Sunday evening, July 6 through Friday morning, July 11, Immanuel will host the Serve Boldly Youth Service Plan for Chicago. The group of 30 middle school students and 8 adult chaperones will take meals, have worship and activities, and sleep overnight at Immanuel during the week. During the daytime, the group will perform various service projects with their ministry partners in the Chicago area, including Bernie's Books in Lake Bluff, Common Pantry, Care for Real, Cradles to Crayons, Christ Lutheran Church Migrant Ministry (all in Chicago), and Evanston Grows, among others. The group originates from Green Lake Lutheran Ministries in Minnesota and the Nativity Lutheran Church in St. Anthony, MN. They will travel in four vehicles and a trailer and will have Immanuel parking permits on their dashboards.
Kit & Jim McCarthy will serve as host liaisons and will greet Serve Boldly upon their arrival to Immanuel on Sunday, July 6th evening. Certified Kitchen Manager Allison Lamberg will be available to assist with any Kitchen matters. Please note that access to the church building will be limited the week of July 6-11 to respect Serve Boldly's use of our facilities. We ask that before going to Immanuel for any reason, please contact the church office at parish-admin@immanuelevanston.org or contact Jane at 847-212-4574 (call or text). We understand this may be an inconvenience to some members and we thank you in advance for your cooperation.
We welcome Serve Boldly and this opportunity to support a Lutheran youth ministry & their community partners!

Your Input Is Needed....All Are Welcome!
Facilities Walk Through
Hopefully, you have noticed that Immanuel is making an effort to be more available to those in the community looking for space for events. To that end, we will be doing a walk through of the facility. Would you like to participate? We want to consider how best to create and provide space for different individuals and groups in the Evanston area and beyond. To date, income from sharing our space has been a great contributor to our overall budget. We hope to grow this over time. However, discussion at Council meetings has clarified that we need to be sure that our space and resources can support this growth.
--Michael Kloster, Council President
If you are interested in participating, please contact Kit McCarthy (kit.mccarthy@comcast.net), Pastor Mark, or Jane Kaihatsu in the church office.

Come be a Beacon of Light!
Thursdays, 7:00 pm - 7:30 pm this summer through August.
Inspired by the Beacons of Light national movement, we're joining a growing chorus of resistance, hope, and solidarity right here in Evanston. The interfaith clergy invite the community to gather in solidarity at one of these locations in Evanston (there will be people gathering at all 3 locations each Thursday):
- Dempster & Ridge
- Chicago & Main
- Central & Lincolnwood Drive
All are welcome. Bring a colorful sign with a positive message of solidarity and hope, or include The Beacon’s QR code to spread the light even further.
