"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Hybrid Sunday Worship

Epiphany of Our Lord (observed)

January 5, 2025

The feast of Epiphany (“manifestation”) concludes the Christmas season with a celebration of God’s glory revealed in the person of Jesus Christ. In Isaiah and Ephesians, that glory is proclaimed for all nations and people. Like the light of the star that guided the magi to Jesus, the light of Christ reveals who we are: children of God who are claimed and washed in the waters of baptism. We are sent out to be beacons of the light of Christ, sharing the good news of God’s love to all people.

Indoor Farmers' Market

Saturday, January 4, 2025

8:00 am - 12:30 pm

This 4th market, we are partnering with Evanston Community Fridges. This is a unique, local food pantry system in Evanston where neighborhoods manage and stock outdoor refrigerators and food pantries. The demands are high, and their funds are running low. So, this market, we are matching up to $1,000 of community donations made at the market with your booth donations to support this effort. The Evanston Community Fridges are promoting this fundraiser within their community of over 3,000 supporters in Evanston. I think this can be a win-win-win for the community, the market, and the organizations we support.

Several organizers of the fridges will be at the Saturday market. If you have any food items that you would like to donate, of any kind, that is also an option this market. The organizers will collect them at the end of the market and distribute them to the fridges through their network. This is totally optional and another way we can give back to the community.

Also, Climate Action Evanston will be at the Advocacy Table. See you tomorrow!

Feeding Our Faith

Sunday, January 5, 9 am - 10 am

Gatherings include viewing short videos and lively discussions. You can participate either in-person or via Zoom. In January we’ll be viewing and discussing TheoEd Talk videos:

January 5, 2025: Cole Arthur Riley: “The Silence of God”

In this talk, Cole explores how individuals can maintain their faith in a seemingly silent God, particularly in times of suffering and distress. Cole delves into the complex relationship between trauma and spirituality. Cole suggests that, rather than losing belief, individuals can engage in practices that foster a deeper presence to both themselves and the world around them, even in the absence of clear signs of God’s presence.
