"Faith That Feeds"
We believe that faith should feed and nurture our spirits.
We believe also that faith should lead us to feed people
in the many different ways they hunger,
both physically and spiritually.

Transfiguration of Our Lord
March 2, 2025
| |
Witnesses to the glory of God in the face of Jesus reflect that glory in the world. It was true for Moses. It was doubtless true for Peter, James, and John. We pray that it will be true of all of us who see God’s glory in the word and in the supper and who are being “transformed into the same image” by God’s Spirit. | | |

Trinity Lutheran Church, 3637 Golf Rd. in Evanston, is hosting a festive Mardi Gras Pancake Dinner
Tuesday, March 4, 2025, 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Raise money to support Global Refuge.
Funds for legal immigration were abruptly and completely cut off by the federal government in late January, stranding hundreds of new immigrant families without the funding and support they had been promised for 90 days after their arrival. Non-profit groups, such as Global Refuge, which support those immigrants, lost all their federal funding as well and now struggle to support the new arrivals. All proceeds from this event will go directly to Global Refuge to fund its ongoing support of legal immigrants.
The Trinity Pancake Dinner on what is traditionally known as Fat Tuesday is a family-friendly event featuring an all-you-can-eat pancake buffet with toppings, sausages and beverages, for a suggested donation of $10 per adult and $5 per child. The event will take place in the Fellowship Hall in the lower level of the church building.

SNAPGap Collection of Dental Items
Tuesday, March 11, 2025
Interfaith Action’s SNAPGap is collecting toothbrushes and toothpaste to be distributed at the March 11 Produce Mobile. Any type of toothbrush or toothpaste is welcome. You may purchase items online at at this link. Or drop off locally bought items at First United Methodist Church, 516 Church Street, Evanston. The church office is open from 10am-2pm, Monday through Friday.
Thank you for your participation! These necessities help individuals and families who are struggling to pay the rent, put food on the table, maintain their health, and live in dignity. Your participation and generosity are greatly appreciated by all. Finally, you may have heard news about upcoming transitions regarding the Produce Mobile. Please know that the program will continue as always through May. In the meantime, the Interfaith Action Board is researching and deliberating its options for the future. Thanks for your patience.
Warm regards,
SNAPGap Team

War in Ukraine: Three Years Later
Since Russia invaded Ukraine three years ago, millions of Ukrainians have fled their homes to seek safety in neighboring countries — and been welcomed by Lutheran Disaster Response’s partners in the region. Even as the situation evolves, the impact of this conflict on people’s lives continues.
Your extraordinary generosity gave Lutheran Disaster Response the opportunity to immediately accompany our neighbors in Central and Eastern Europe and to continue to walk with them through recovery and healing.
Finding “humanity and kindness”
In the Roma community of Tury’a Pasika, Lutheran Disaster Response is offering additional education to children. “I want to show them that there is a path beyond the struggles of the tábor [Roma camp] — a future where they can read, write, dream and build a life they choose for themselves,” said Nadia Fontosh, the class teacher.
