Dear OLG Families,
The All School Mass had a few live-streaming technical glitches (shall we blame 5G?) but our in-person attendance experienced a message of peace from Fr. Kevin and our 8th grade leaders, and harmony from Ms. Sager and the wonderful student singers. Thank you to all for helping remind us of the ordinary love and normalcy we can still have in these extra-ordinary times! I look forward to the kick-off of Catholic Schools Week on Sunday, Jan 30th where we can again celebrate (safely) together! Many more details below and on our webpage...including a special alumni blessing after Mass.
Reminder that Sunday, Jan 30th is also our Open House, again virtual this year, for all interested new applicants! If you have a new student from your family you'd like to enroll, please make sure you've completed a full application and turned that into our office in this next week! Also don't forget to refer your friends and neighbors as you are the best spokesperson for our continually growing family. This month we've already added three new students... and we're very excited to be closing in on full classes for Fall in many of our grades!
Again this week I wanted to share some Covid stats and updates with you:

Vaccinations -- Thank you families for continuing to updated us with verified vaccination status with the school office (email a pic or simply present in person). This resource page continues to be helpful in answering questions as well! We continue at a steady 90%+ vaccinated rate (or in-process) as we close-out our class audits. We're still filling in our data in a few grades, so keep the confirmations coming!

COVID #'s -- A slight drop to 10 current positive cases this week; includes 5 newly verified while 7 cases of students and staff cleared their quarantine protocols.

Several of our grades are affected directly but all classes look to be returning in-person next week.

Free Covid Tests available to households this week! Use this USPS link to order 4 kits from the federal government. Washington State will be coming out with their own in the coming days. We also are working on getting kits here at school through the "Learn to Return" program. We also have seen additional testing availability at the Thistle/SWAC and local Curative locations, as well as swifter PCR result reporting this week!
- While SKCPH is continuing the effort to update their protocols (here) we are also keeping our procedures as tight as we can for the safety of all (see here). Reach out to us at the school office if you have questions regarding your families particular situation.

Help your children identify a Special Person in their life. Each year students choose someone special in their lives to celebrate during Catholic Schools Week (a relative, teachers, Fr. Kevin, etc). Students will be creating a project this week for their Special Person in their classroom.

Volleyball Registration Closes Tomorrow Jan 21st
We are gearing up for our Volleyball Season and excited to announce that Volleyball Registration is OPEN. We are able to participate in volleyball (a designated "moderate risk" sport) as the state does not currently have a testing requirement. Volleyball is open to grades 4th-8th (4th grade is co-ed). Please register by Jan 21. Season starts February 25th.

High School Movie Night
All high school youth are invited to join us for a movie night on Friday, Jan 28 at 6:30pm in the Walmesley Center. We’ll do our best to recreate the movie theater experience in a safe way with the movie showing on our large screen and all your favorite candies and popcorn. There’s plenty of room to safely distance, the air is filtered, and everyone will be required to wear masks. Bring a beanbag, chair, or blanket and enjoy a fun evening with us. All are welcome so feel free to invite friends. RSVP to Jennifer by Monday, January 24. We’ll send you the link to vote on which movie we watch.
Walking with Holy Families: Save Asylum
Join local Catholics and friends on Saturday, Jan 29 as we stand in solidarity with Holy Families seeking asylum. We will pray, reflect, hear stories, and take action to end Title 42. Gathering at 3pm on the steps of St. James Cathedral, we will peacefully walk to the Federal Plaza in downtown Seattle and hold a vigil until 5pm at the federal government’s doorstep, impelling them to restore access to asylum. Sponsored by the Archdiocese of Seattle, St. James Cathedral, Agape Service Project, St. Joseph Parish, Kino Border Initiative, the Intercommunity Peace and Justice Center and OLG! For 7th and 8th grade students who are currently enrolled in Confirmation, your retreat will be held at the Walmesley Center on Saturday, Feb 12 10:00 am-8:30 pm

Altar Servers Needed
Children 4th grade and older, and adults are invited to attend one of the two upcoming trainings: Tuesday, Feb 15, 3:15-4:15 pm, or Saturday, Feb 19, 4:00-5:00 pm, in the church. This is a great opportunity for families to serve together. Information, Helen Oesterle, 206-935-0358

2021-23 Synod Process Coming Soon
The Synod is a process of journeying together by listening, dialoguing, praying, discerning, and making decisions together for the purpose of proclaiming the Gospel of Jesus Christ. It will help us to listen more intentionally to the Holy Spirit’s movement in our own lives, within our own community and throughout the world. There will be opportunities for everyone, including those on the margins of our parish, to participate in a wide variety of formats—in person and by Zoom. Attention Crafters: The Day of Service Needs Supplies!
Our 9th Day of Service will be on Saturday, April 2, and we need help from our community of crafters! Are you ready to clear out your supply stash for the New Year? We need your unwanted supplies for our Gym "Crafting for a Cause" Projects. Needed items include: scrapbook paper, paper punches, stickers, rubber stamps, polar fleece, beads (all kinds), and ribbon. Please remember that items will be used to make gifts for those in need and should be new or gently used. If you would like to donate items or help plan the event, contact Jennifer.
