Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

We look forward to the kick-off of Catholic Schools Week this Sunday, Jan 30th where we can again celebrate (safely) together! Many more details below, on our webpage, and in additional email/instragram/facebook posts! This Friday noon dismissal for all students is professional collaboration time for our staff to be prepared! Thank you for your support!

Our Open House, again virtual this year, is 10am Sunday. It is imperative if you'd like to enroll a new student from your family to make sure you've completed a full application and turned that into our office by Jan 31st!

Returning students, save the date for re-registration beginning Feb 16th at our State of the School event. If you are not returning next school year, contact the school office as we have several classes this Fall in many of our grades!

Again this week I wanted to share some Covid stats and updates with you:
  • Vaccinations -- Thank you families for continuing to updated us with verified vaccination status with the school office (email a pic or simply present in person). 100% of staff and 87% of K-8 students are in-progress or completed their vaccinations series!
  • In the news the State Board of Health is seeking family input for fall... if you haven't completed their survey, here is their link!
  • COVID #'s -- steady 10 current positive cases; includes 4 newly verified while 4 cases of cleared their quarantine protocols and returned to classes. Stay Safe!

Thank you for all your work as families and as part of the greater OLG family to keep our school moving forward together! Today's newsletter has new details below regarding Catholic Schools Week, as well as CYO news, volunteer/commitment hours opportunities, and more!!!
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Counselor Corner
SEL this week focused on feelings and goal setting. We had lots of good discussions and lessons, including:

  • 1st grade focused on feelings, recognizing those feelings in someone else, and thinking about how to help that person.
  • 2nd grade learned how empathy and kindness work together and watched a video on kindness by Kid President.
  • 4th and 5th grade continued working on setting goals that are Specific, Challenging, Doable, and Motivating. Next week we will conclude working on goals with a 10 minute group challenge!
  • 6th grade practiced setting goals that are SMART (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound) and breaking down bigger goals into smaller steps.
  • In 7th and grade we discussed what occurs in our brain when we feel strong emotions, and how that can impact the way we react.
  • 8th grade began discussing factors that play into our identity and created a personal identity map
