Dear OLG Families,
We're so excited to have the Halloween Carnival return to action this weekend! Read on below for more info. Our classroom celebrations will be on Wednesday (10/27) and a few reminders for this special in-school activity:
- Costumes should not impede vision or movement (a.k.a. leave the full face mask off during the school day, lets keep face paint to a minimum at school)
- Weapons are not permitted and should be left home
- Excessive gore is unnecessary
- Costume modesty should be respectful of school dress code
- Halloween-o-Grams will go out to every student... purchased ones should be brought to the classroom this day!
Get your money's worth out of those costumes... you get to wear them three times at OLG (this Saturday, next Wednesday, and then Halloween itself)! A few more notes below in the calendar section about grade-levels and you'll likely see more from your individual teacher newsletter as well!
Our parent-teacher Fall Conferences (student-led in many grades) are next week! Our Preschool thru 8th Grade Fall Conferences sign-ups are now open for October 28th and 29th, with additional limited availability on the 27th. These are required for everyone! Pre-School and PreK families, please coordinate your conferences directly with your teachers through Brightwheel. Students are expected to participate in the 1st thru 8th grades. Sign-up and more info HERE!!
A quick note regarding the Charleston Wrap product sale... over $3,500 raised as of yesterday! Nice work everyone and thank you Nayara for your leadership! Read on for more info on Charleston, Rocket League, Safe Parking, and more... Thanks for all your families' participation in our greater OLG community! I'm looking forward to picking out my own costume for Saturday!

The CYO 4-8th Basketball program start date has been pushed back to January.
The state of Washington considers Basketball a “high-risk sport” because it takes place indoors and athletes are in close contact. Due to this there are much more stringent rules compared to other sports. CYO has postponed the upcoming season with the hope that proper protocols and processes are set up to have a successful basketball season in January.
Rocket League is back (deadline extended) - Season to start in November!
CYO will be registering teams of 3 players from our parish/school to compete against other local Catholic parishes and schools in a private CYO season of Rocket League (4th-8th grade). Visit our website registration portal to sign up your child! If your child has 2 friends they want to be a team with, indicate in the registration who you request your teammates to be. Otherwise, we will work to group your child with other kids looking to play. Each team will need to have one parent point of contact take the lead as “Coach” and help facilitate a mutually agreeable time to play with the opponent, so in your registration please also indicate if you are willing to be the team “Coach”. Games will be played each week, starting in November. Register here for $15/player https://www.teamsideline.com/sites/seattlecyo/home

#PrayForCOP26
Add your boat to the online fleet and
call on leaders to take action
The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) will take place in Glasgow on Oct 31-Nov 12. The COP26 summit will bring parties together to accelerate action towards the goals of the Paris Agreement and the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change. People of faith from around the world are organizing a massive prayer effort, calling upon the Holy Spirit to inspire the participants to do all they can to protect all of God’s creation. One way that you can participate in this effort is to send a prayer boat to COP26. Why prayer boats? Click here: https://www.christianaid.org.uk/pray/prayer-chain
Safe Parking Update
Volunteering in the parish counts towards school hours too!
Our Safe Parking ministry continues hosting guests, despite the challenges of COVID-19. We now have two guests utilizing our lot and are seeking volunteers to help keep the Hospitality Hut clean and welcoming while St. Vincent de Paul keeps it stocked with food. Be part of the team and sign up for the date(s) that work for you each month. To volunteer, contact Jennifer (206) 935-0358 x120
