Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

What a blessed community we live in! Sunday we had eager families' visiting with our Kindergarten teacher, Mrs. Kolding, in our first ever Kindergarten Fall Open House. And Wednesday's combined Catholic Schools Vaccine Clinic was a rousing success with many parents and student commenting on the ease and great community atmosphere! Thank you families for all your aprticipation! Two key items on COVID as we move to Thanksgiving next week:
  • TRAVELING out-of-state at upcoming holidays? Please do this quick survey to help our teachers plan for any extended absence needs for unvaccinated students (remember, for kids to be "fully vaccinated" requires 2 weeks after 2nd Pfizer shot + verify vaccination status with the school office) This means for 5 -11 year old students reaching fully vaccinated status is virtually impossible for the Thanksgiving Holiday, but almost all will have time to be fully vaccinated for Christmas Break!
  • Missed the Nov 17th Vaccine Clinic for OLG 5-11 year olds? A pop-up clinic just down the street is open this Saturday: Neighborhood House, 5 to 6:30pm (Second dose on 12/11... full vaccination by Christmas Day)! More info this and other vaccinations on the WS Blog).

Giving Tuesday
November 30, 2021

Tuition does not cover the full cost of educating a student at OLG. This is particularly true now, when Covid-19 has continued to strain our Parish and School resources and staff like never before. Our Annual School Fund Drive directly supports the over $100k in tuition assistance our school provides to keep our OLG education accessible. This is also our primary source for Educator Excellence Awards and additional professional development opportunities for our fabulous staff.

This year, more than ever, we need your help. Your generous donation allows OLG to continue to offer the quality of education our community has come to expect from OLG, and make an OLG education affordable for families who could not otherwise afford the cost of a private Catholic education.

GivingTuesday is a global day of generosity that will take place on November 30, 2021, unleashing the power of “radical generosity” to transform communities and the world.

GivingTuesday is an opportunity for people around the world to come together to thank, help, give, show kindness, and share what they have with those in need.

Everyone has something to give. Every act of generosity counts.

Please give generously. Now more than ever, OLG needs your support.
When OLG donors dig deep, magic happens.
From all of us at OLG, thank you!
CYO Sports
CYO Basketball (6th-8th grade)
We are excited to announce that CYO basketball will begin in January and enrollment is now open. Click here to sign up!

Given the guidance from the Washington State Department of Health, the availability of CYO facilities and staffing resources, the CYO league will only be available for 6th – 8th graders. We are looking to also add gym time for 4th and 5th grade basketball practices though, unfortunately, CYO will not be hosting games for those grades Here is the guidance for the 2022 CYO Basketball season:

  • In addition to the CYO Athletic Director, each program must have a healthcare coordinator to help teams comply with the health and safety guidance.
  • The healthcare coordinator must attend a CYO online training.
  • The healthcare coordinator must coordinate with all coaches to check the vaccination status of everyone involved:

  • All coaches, refs and volunteer parents MUST be vaccinated
  • All student athletes must share vaccination status and proper documentation must be verified for vaccinated athletes
  • All players must wear a mask during game play
  • Per DOH guidance, unvaccinated students must be tested twice weekly,
  • Unvaccinated student athletes must complete the test in a lab or testing facility and turn in their results each time to the healthcare point person and/or coach
  • Each program must track ongoing testing on a matrix that should be sent monthly to the CYO Director.
Practices can start once a healthcare coordinator is trained and all the students have shared their vaccination status. That being said...We need a healthcare coordinator to volunteer. If you are interested please contact Dan Campbell at [email protected].
