Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

Happy third week of Advent! This week our school focused on Joy!!!. Thanks to Ms. Sager and a few special guests in our Carpool line this week for bringing some extra JOY!! Tomorrow we will post our "4th Week of Advent" prayer service to our vimeo page and on our calendar for you and your family to share together next week!

Tomorrow is the final day of classes in this calendar year, with a half-day/noon dismissal (no EDC). We look forward to seeing everyone return safe and sound on Monday, Jan 3rd! A couple other quick highlights of this week:
  • Report Cards for T1 are being sent electronically to your email address of record through ALMA by noon tomorrow.
  • Our Student-Council-Led Saint Vincent de Paul Food Drive final count of today: Just over 1,500 items/dollars collected ... we did not reach our school-wide goal of 3,000 (no school-wide free dress tomorrow), but special kudos to our Kindergarten class who brought in more than 400 just on their own!
  • Our newest staff member, our School Counselor, shares a few thoughts below as we head into the holidays!
  • Online OLG School Directory 2021-2022. Requests for a printed copy may be made at the school office.
  • Vaccinations - As students receive their second shot, please verify vaccination status with the school office (email a pic or simply present in person). If unvaccinated or in case of an extended absence, this resource page can be helpful in answering questions as well!

Further special events of the Christmas season are listed below and in the parish section. The Peace and Joy of the Lord be with you this holiday season!
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Counselor Corner
Hello OLG Families!

These first few weeks have been a whirlwind of getting to know the students and faculty here at OLG. The middle school students gave me great feedback on what they hope to learn in SEL classes the rest of the school year. In the younger grades we reviewed Kelso's Choice, a tool that empowers youth to resolve small problems on their own. I have also updated the School Counseling webpages, where you will find information regarding the curriculum used in SEL classes as well as resources for students and families on a variety of topics. There you will also find a Request Form to use to request an individual or group counseling session.

Thank you for the warm welcome to the OLG community!

OLG Parish News
Thank you for Sharing Love this Christmas Season
Wow! What an amazing community we have here at OLG! Thank you to all who gave so generously this Christmas season to make the holidays brighter for our neighbors in need. Together, we helped provide gifts for 10 children at Sanislo Elementary School as well as two $25 Target cards for each of the 63 children at Catholic Housing Services’ Santa Teresita apartments ($3150 total). We collected 10 board games to entertain seafarers while living aboard shipping vessels and also contributed $185 to the bulk purchase of SIM cards so they can call their loved ones over the holidays. In addition, our Knights of Columbus provided 25 winter coats for local families and our St. Vincent de Paul/Parish helped 20 families (95 individuals) get Christmas gifts for their children.

And that’s not all…You provided 36 “Shoeboxes of Joy” to Catholic Community Services’ Volunteer Services for seniors and homebound neighbors and earned us $92 through our Pura Vida Fair Trade Coffee Fundraiser. Finally, we have over $300 coming back in rebates from our Fair Trade Sale! All of us working together and contributing what we can adds up to so much more. Thank you for helping to bring God’s love and care to our community in such tangible ways. Merry Christmas!
