Leadership Team Updates

Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

Last week we welcomed a very special visitor to St. Alphonsus--the new Archbishop, Jeffrey S. Grob! We were so honored to meet and host him and many of us remarked about how personable he is. You can read more about the details of his visit below.

This weekend, Father Kevin announced that there will be no new associate pastor coming to St. Alphonsus next year when Father Anthoni leaves us to return to India in June. We will miss Father Anthoni so much! You can read more about the reasons for not having a new associate join us in Father Kevin's recent pastoral letter, which was sent to all parishioners.

Intent to Return Forms for the 2025-2026 school year are coming home to you today! They are due by Friday, April 11. These forms help us in planning and budgeting for the upcoming school year. We love having you all as a part of our St. Alphonsus family, and we hope that every single one of you will be returning!

You can still sign up for this week's Mom Prom, an event for mother-figures and sons taking place this Friday, April 11. You can find more information about to register and volunteer for this event below. Please remember that all volunteers must be safeguarded, and registration to attend the event is due by Wednesday.

Thank you to everyone who donated shoes for the shoe drive! We met our goal and managed to collect over 2,800 pairs of shoes. You can see more about this accomplishment below!

Make plans to join us for Living Stations of the Cross next week, Tuesday, April 15 and Wednesday, April 16. This is a very special St. Alphonsus tradition! More details below.

Have a great week!

Best regards,

Ms. Parey, Principal

Archbishop Grob Visits St. Alphonsus

Last week we welcomed a very special visitor to St. Alphonsus...Archbishop Grob!

5K has a special tradition called the "Mystery Reader." The students do not know who the Mystery Reader is going to be each week, so it is fun to see their surprise and delight when parents, friends, and special guests come to read a book with the class.  Last week the Mystery Reader was the Archbishop! Students listened attentively as Archbishop Grob read The Day the Crayons Quit. He also gave students coloring books and crayons, met our class bunny, and spent a lot of time talking with students about the importance of not quitting. Before the Archbishop came, students were taught about the Catholic pyramid and shown pictures of the Archbishop.  When he knocked on the door and was greeted by the class, students knew exactly who he was right away!

After he spent some time in 5K with us, he was also able to travel around the school and meet our other classes. It was a very special day and we were honored to host him!

Middle School Box City is This Weekend!

Box City will take place from Saturday, April 12 into Palm Sunday. This is a unique service project opportunity for students in grades 5-8.

Students will sleep outside, in boxes, in an attempt to live just a fraction of the unhoused experience. They will then go to Mass together in the morning and participate in the Palm Sunday Pack the Church at 7:00am Mass as lectors and gift bearers.

Parent volunteers are still needed for this event! Middle school parents, you can sign up for shifts here.

Cougar Athletics News

Give Track a Try!

St. Alphonsus Track & Field is still taking on new members! Track is an awesome opportunity to have fun, cheer on your schoolmates, meet friends from other schools, and more.

Parents, the commitment is really low key - only sign up for events that you want to and only attend the meets that work with your schedule. Practice is twice a week and a bit later in the early evening, making this the perfect extracurricular for after your other after school events!

Students in grades 5-8 are eligible. If your child has any interest at all, we encourage you to try it! Contact Coach Ben Rezutek to get signed up.

The Cougar Athletics Store has some new gear!

That's right, you can now get TRACK gear in addition to Basketball stuff, and soon you will also be able to order ahead for Volleyball in the Fall! Anything you see in the store can have either the track or basketball logos on it. Use the drop downs to select your sport!

Check out the web store here.

Parish Auction Updates

Registration is Now Open for the Parish Auction!

Join us for a super fun night out on Friday, May 2 at Boerner Botanical Gardens! Every year we have more and more St. Alphonsus school parents attending and it's always an awesome time. Visit the parish auction web page for more details.

In addition to registration being open, this year we are also selling raffle calendars! $25 each and only 750 sold. These make great gifts to pop into Easter baskets and the like--yes, your kiddos could win, too (just adults need to purchase them!). Many chances to win, so check out all the details below and stop by the parish auction table in the gathering space to pick one up.

Thank you for your support of this year's auction!

Student Volunteers Needed for the Parish Auction!

This is a great way for kids to get service hours, saves St. Al’s the money we’d otherwise have to pay for adult waitstaff, and is a lot of fun!

Students should arrive at 4:30 and will be done between 9:30 and 10:00. Students will assist with table and other set up. They will serve appetizers to guests during cocktail hour. After that, they will work in the dining room, clearing salad plates, serving entrees, bringing coffee carafes to the tables and clearing plates, glasses, silverware, etc. at the end of the meal.

We will feed students dinner shortly after arrival. Students should wear a plain, white shirt or blouse and black pants or skirt with comfortable, closed toe shoes.

Students in grades 4-8 are eligible to serve. High schoolers are also welcome. Sign up here!

The Auction Committee is also still looking for donations for the Silent Auction portion of the evening!

Please check out the letter below for some ideas of what could be donated. We would love to have your help to make this year's auction a success!
