OLG Chorus at the Sing-a-Long
Middle School Choir performs
Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

What an amazing community we are in... There are two gifts that you can look forward to as we wrap-up this week:
  1. Report cards are coming home! Thank you for your patience with some technical difficulties of Powerschool this trimester 1. Please check your child's backpack and feel free to sign and return that envelope tonight to signify to your teacher that you've received your report card (plus it helps us re-use those envelopes).
  2. We did it: over 3,000 items and dollars for the Saint Vincent de Paul food and item drive! That's almost 2,000 items this week alone, and more than 400 over last year! You've all earned that free dress tomorrow! One more example of our Many Parts working together in One Body!

This parish has a long history of working with folks in need. Below in the parish news is highlights of the Giving Tree program, and another example of our many parts acting together was at our Safe Parking information night last night. If you were unable to attend, you can read all the Safe Parking documents that were handed out, including FAQ's and statistics of the people we are aiming to help. We heard from more than 80 neighbors, parishioners, school families, and our parish partners the City of Seattle, and the Urban League. We're confident this program carries forward our school's mission of service learning in a safe and structured program. I look forward to sharing more news as plans continue to be refined in the new year.

Finally, a little reminder of noon dismissal tomorrow and our first day back in the new year is January 6th. Have a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Three Kings Day Party, Potluck and Food Drive
Your family is invited to a Three Kings Party on Sunday, Jan 5 from 12:30-2:30pm in the School Hall. In much of Latin America, Epiphany, or Three Kings Day/El Día de los Tres Reyes Magos, is the day families celebrate the visit of the three kings from distant lands to welcome and share their gifts with the baby Jesus and His family. Join us for crown-making, story-telling, games, and hopefully a visit from the Tres Reyes themselves! RSVP to Rebecca or 206-380-4684 with number of children and their ages, so the Three Kings pack enough gifts for the children. We will provide rice, beans, hot chocolate, and la Rosca, the special bread we eat on this day. Please consider bringing an appetizer, salads or drinks, and a food item/canned food for St. Vincent de Paul.

Giving Tree Thanks!
Thank you to all who were able to take a tag off our Giving Tree this year. As of the 16 th , we received $1825 worth of Target cards for Santa Teresita families, 18 gifts for students at Sanislo Elementary, 7 gifts for two local asylum-seeking families supported by our Immigrant Ministry, and $375 worth of grocery cards for families in need at St. Edwards in the Rainier Valley. Thank you for your generosity and for making the holidays a little brighter for those in need in our community.
