6th Grade salmon field trip to Carkeek Park
A salmon researcher explains salmon life cycles and stream habitat
Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

We have fully entered the season of Advent, a time to prepare for Christ's birth. Preparation can be a very busy endeavor: Auction Procurements, Light-up-the-Night tomorrow, St. VdP Drive all through Dec. 19th, Feast Day Sunday with the parish, OLG School Feast Day this next Thursday, and so much more. And that's just the school list through next week, not including work and family holiday parties that we all face, plus all the shopping, package deliveries, and decorations to put-up! As a husband of a wife who wants all decorations up in one day (the day after Thanksgiving), I know very well how busy decorating can make our lives!
Enough busy!
Enough with hectic!
Advent is not about the commercial endeavors,
the shopping,
the consumerism...
Advent is preparing our heart. Preparing in communion with each other. Simplify that next holiday party, wear OLG Spirit Wear (CYO, etc) tomorrow, sing together with hot chocolate, cookies, and friends at Light up the Night.
Prepare with HOPE in our future, in our humanity. Bring in a donation for SvDP, come find out more info on the Dec 18th Safe Parking info night, or share that #OLGGives link once more!
Prepare with PEACE; come to an upcoming Mass to pray, or join our short Mon/Wed morning school prayer service.
Prepare with JOY; celebrate at our sing-a-long the afternoon of Dec. 18th
Prepare with LOVE; The hope, peace, and joy of Christ brings us closer in loving relationship with each other!
We focus each week in school on one of these four areas to prepare in Advent. Many more resources for your family also live here on the parish site: https://www.olgseattle.org/celebrating-the-advent-season
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Loop the 'Lupe Needs You!
We're less than six months away from Loop the 'Lupe, the obstacle course 5K fundraiser OLG holds each summer. The date of the upcoming event is Saturday, June 6th, 2020. "The Loop" raised more than $12,000 in 2019 to go towards maintenance costs for the Walmesley Center, but to continue our success, we need a lot of volunteers! Please join us for a brief meeting in the narthex of the church after all the Masses on December 14th and 15th . Holiday snacks will be provided, and we'll keep it short! Contact Brian Callanan  or call 206-459-4292 to learn more.

Help Plan the 2020 Day of Service
Planning is underway for the 2020 Day of Service, coming up on March 28. Join our team to help pick volunteer sites and get the word out to the community! Our next meeting is Friday, Dec 13 at 8:30am in the Pastoral Center. Want to help but can’t make the meeting? We need people to research agencies, organize data, market, shop, and manage signups. This is a great short-term project that counts towards school volunteer hours!  Karen

Don't neglect to show hospitality, for by doing this some have welcomed angels as guests without knowing it.  -Hebrews 13:2
Ever since WHEEL Women’s Shelter closed at OLG, we have been hoping to find another way to provide shelter on our campus. We are excited to announce we are making plans to partner with Urban League of Metropolitan Seattle to host several overnight Safe Parking spots in our gravel lot. This will continue our tradition of offering shelter to those in need in our community, just in time for colder weather! Please join us for dinner on Wednesday,  December 18  at 6:00pm in the Parish Hall to learn more about this program.
