Dear OLG Families,
I know you really wish this was an email that ended "
powered by Swiftreach" announcing tomorrow's weather/schedule adjustments (along with accompanying phone call and text). That may still come, but for now the forecast is for above-freezing temperatures till after 4pm and we're planning on getting in a
full day of school! Thank you so much for your flexibility this week and the joy you bring in having quality family time with your child(ren). Please plan on picking-up students at 3pm tomorrow as
afternoon EDC may be cancelled in order to avoid any sticking snow and to keep our staff and students safe!
Before the next round of snow hits:
TONIGHT we do have a very important opportunity to provide input to the school direction (about something beyond snow schedules)!
6:30pm in the Math Room join our School Commission members and visionary others in helping update our Strategic Plan. The old
Vision 2018 has served us well, but it's no 2019 and we need to move ahead. Please join us tonight for some snack, excellent conversation with new friends and old, and a place and time to share in the formation of OLG's next steps as we
Grow in the Light of Christ.
Note there will be one final "Vision" session later next month, after the
March 13th
State of the School.
Thank you to all who have completed the "intent to return" as our classes are filling and we have strong interest for new students coming in for many of our grade levels. If you have a newly enrolling sibling, please make sure to also complete the formal application steps
here to ensure your spot. If you missed signifying your "intent" then you'll be contacted shortly by one of us in the school office soon!
Conference planned for next week (info/signups below). Stay Safe and Warm (and start making your
auction plans!)

Math-Whizz Pilot is happening at OLG!
Students in K-4 have begun the pilot with an individualized online assessment which will guide the lessons they will receive in tutor mode. For optimum results we need your support in having your student log on at home. They will spend time at school as well! This program aligns with our Math In Focus curriculum, and will enable us to provide more support and enrichment for our range of math learners. Your student has been given a letter and log on information to use at home. It is also posted on my
webpage
.
Please let me know if you have any questions.

Day of Service 2019: Westside Baby
Save the Date for the 2019 Day of Service on
Saturday, April 6.
With 12 projects to choose from, you may need more information! This week's featured project is
WestSide Baby
, a project directly connected to our parish and school service projects through donations and fundraising! Curious about where all the donations go? Just down the street in neighboring White Center, WSB partners with over 120 social service agencies to provide children of all ages with clothes, diapers and toys. On the Day of Service, volunteers will tour the facility, get an overview of the program, and sort, file and bundle donations, orders and supplies for children in our community. This is a great project for ages 8 and up.

Exploring our Collective Memory: An Invitation to Reflect on US Immigration

Reflecting on the history of U.S. immigration in light of Catholic Social Traditions can remind us why fighting for policies that honor the dignity of our migrant brothers and sisters is a matter of faith and a matter of justice. Suggested donation $5.
