Dear OLG Families,
Last week I asked us to all consider how MLK Day was a time to reflect on our call to change the world. Here at Guadalupe I am continually blessed to see our youth listen for their call and respond. From the SVdP food drive last month, to seeing all students prepare to present their work for this weekend's open house...come and share this positive presence and great hope that is so uplifting in our current "Viadoom" "shutdown" world. Here at OLG we are growing, we are spreading light, and we are welcoming to all. Come this weekend to our masses to hear from our students and to invite others in.
Refer another family to join OLG School and invite them to our open house this Sunday, Jan 27th (9-1).
If you haven't yet, please also complete the
Intent to Return survey for our enrollment and planning process. We are
Growing in the Light and we want to make sure your families spots are held while we are considering new enrollees!
As we grow together we also reflect on our progress, and this Friday (1/25) we have a half-day of school for that purpose. Our wonderful teachers will be investigating our science program options as we look to move more fully into the Next Generation. Thank you for your support of our teachers and their continual growth and development. I look forward to seeing you all this weekend and throughout the week as we celebrate our Catholic Schools!

OLG Catholic School Open House is this Sunday which means we’re halfway through the school year. Has your kiddo outgrown their uniform? Well it's time to turn it in for the next kid and pick up something that fits. Lost your sweatshirt or vest? I have some! Need pants? I’ve got tons - boys AND girls! The uniform closet/room is organized and ready for business. There will NOT be tables set up during the Open House. However, you may
e-mail
or text me at any time with your personal request and I will get you what you need. Usually within a day or two turnaround time.
Also, if you are looking to clean out your closets, you can always bring in your gently used pants, jumpers, skirts, etc.
to the front office.
NO WHITE SHIRTS PLEASE - unless they are brand new or
barely
used.
Thank you!

Healthy, Caring, and Responsible
Years ago as a young adult, I asked my mother a sincere and loving question…”How did you know what to do to be such a great mom?” She smiled at the compliment, and thought for a moment. I knew she had been an only child, losing her dad when she was just 14, and her mother when she was 22. She smiled and said, “Well, I was blessed with the four of you. You and your brothers were for the most part very responsible, and I trusted you. You were like kites that I set in the breeze. I would let out the string a little at time, as you slowly drifted up. Once you were high up in the wind and the current had you, I let go…”

Congratulations and God's Blessings
Last weekend we celebrated the RCIA Rites of Acceptance and Welcome --
Catechumens (those not baptized):
Jill Arbow and Darnell Metcalf
Candidates (those already baptized):
John Crone, Tom Stafford, and Kat Woods
These catechumens and candidates have shown that the beginnings of the spiritual life and the fundamentals of Christian teaching have taken root in them. They have now publicly stated their desire to learn more about the Catholic faith and follow the ways of Christ and will now enter into a more intense time of formation. The Rite asks them what they ask of the Church and their response was:
They ask the Church to continue to support them on their faith journey. They want the Church to continue to embrace the inclusivity of the Gospel and the dignity and rights of others, including welcoming women and their gifts. They also ask the Church to work for greater integrity and accountability among its bishops and priests.
And, they ask you, the people of Our Lady of Guadalupe,
to surround them and their families with faith, love and encouragement, and welcome them into the parish family.
Please continue to keep them in your prayers.
