Dear St. Alphonsus Families,
We hope you are staying warm in this cold weather again! Hopefully it will start to warm up soon. We started off the week with the St. Alphonsus Cougar welcoming students to school in our gym carline, because of course you know what week it is: CATHOLIC SCHOOLS WEEK!
Thank you to everyone who attend our Open House yesterday! We gave tours to many new families and enjoyed visiting with our current families too! Mrs. Schermetzler asked me to let you know that we had over 15 new families take tours or information yesterday! We are certainly excited to see so much interest in our school.
On Saturday, we had a great turn out for our second annual Family Movie Night in the Community Room! And today we had a wonderful Shout Hosanna in the morning with Mr. & Mrs. Zelinka, always a great time. Our veterans from the Adopt a Veteran program joined us for coffee and donuts as well as some of our families! Thank you for attending. The Cougar, of course, also joined in!
You can find more details about what we're up to this week to celebrate our Catholic School below. Thank you as always for choosing St. Alphonsus. Our school wouldn't be what it is without you, our families. We are so grateful for your love and support and hope we get to see you at a few of our events this week!
Another reminder that I am hosting a School Choice Night on Thursday, February 5. These will be private and confidential meetings for all families who are interested in applying for school choice financial aid through the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program. I can review the paperwork required with you, answer questions you may have, and discuss your options as it relates to this program. Please see the flyer and information below for more details, and email me at msagat@st-alphonsus.org if you would like to meet with me or if you have any questions about School Choice.
Here are some other reminders for the week:
-
Our rescheduled Pizza Lunch Fundraiser from last week will now take place on Thursday, January 29. There will be no hot lunch or ala carte served on this day, so if your student didn't order a pizza lunch, please make plans accordingly.
- In addition, as mentioned last week, the Out of Uniform Date for the last Friday of the month passes that was missed last week due to the cold day will be announced at a later date. We will publish that information for you here in our school newsletter once a date has been selected.
-
If you or someone you know is still looking to get safeguarded, the parish is holding a Safe Environment Class at 1:00pm on Wednesday, January 28 in the Community Room. For more information and to sign-up, please contact Rachel Kroes.
-
Just a reminder that fees cannot be combined and must be separated per bill. Tuition, Cougar Club, and Lunch cannot be combined on the same check. Pizza Lunch and field trip fees also cannot be combined, as these fees go to different orgs within St. Alphonsus (Home & School and School have two separate budgets).
I hope to see many of you at some of our other events this week! Don't forget that you can join us for the Living Rosary on Wednesday, Talent Show on Thursday, and I know many of you are also planning on coming to the hot dog lunch on Friday. Please be sure to stay plugged into our social media this week as we celebrate all things great about our wonderful Catholic School!
Have a great week!
Megan Sagat Principal

Presenting the Inaugural St. Alphonsus Talent Show on Thursday, January 29!
Come see the amazing talents of some of our students at the St. Alphonsus Talent Show! Parents and families are invited to attend.
The talent show will begin promptly at 2:00pm. Please park in the main parking lot and enter at the gym doors. We hope to see you there!
| | | | School Choice Information | | |
Don't forget to join Mrs. Sagat at School Choice Night, coming up on Thursday, February 5. This is your opportunity to ask questions about the program, have her review your paperwork, etc. All meetings will be spaced so that they are private and confidential. Please email Mrs. Sagat to set up a time.
Think of the Wisconsin Parental Choice Program as a new form of financial aid available to our current families. Our goal with this program is to be able to better assist our families already attending St. Alphonsus in affording Catholic school tuition! Enrollment into this program opens on February 2 and we encourage those families who are interested to apply early. You can find more information on schoolchoicewi.org and see the income eligibility chart below to learn if you qualify. The portal for applications will open Monday, February 2nd.

Here's a testimonial from one St. Alphonsus family!
Hi! I just wanted to share our experience with RaiseRight. Our family has been at the school for many years. Oddly, it wasn't until last school year that we intentionally started using RaiserRight gift cards to pay for our everyday gas, grocery, and clothing purchases. Before then, we really didn't understand how easy and beneficial the program was. Our everyday purchases really added up, directly supported our children's education, and helped raise money for the school. I am happy to report that our family earned an $800 tuition credit! Want to turn your everyday spending into tuition savings? Join St. Al's RaiseRight program and start buying gift cards, shopping online, or dining at restaurants to earn up to 20% back every time.

Crochet Service Project Opportunity
Something that is in high need for those who frequent meal programs and shower programs are soap sacks. These little sacks can have a dual purpose - one just a clean place to carry their soap AND/OR a washcloth.
We would like to invite St. Alphonsus children to have an opportunity to learn how to crochet these little bags. Please come February 22nd to Room 409 at 4:30pm.
We will have pizza for kids to eat as they will be there during the dinner hour. We will have enough supplies for the kids. If they have their own hooks and cotton yarn, however, they are welcome to bring them to this session.
If your son or daughter already knows how to crochet, they can still join us (and maybe even help us teach the others)! Or, if you would like, we can give you the pattern and you can make them at home and bring them to donate.
If your children are really interested in doing this but this day does not work, please reach out to Karen Farrell.
