Upgrade Your Play
Following playground updates to Stocks Playground and the addition of swings at Federal Hill Green, many residents responded with hopes of new playground equipment at their closest neighborhood playgrounds… well, we heard you and we’re ready to UPGRADE YOUR PLAY!
Plans are underway for upgraded playgrounds at:
- Seymour Park
- Wilson Park
- Peck Park
- Federal Hill Green
Now, we need YOU to rank your priority playgrounds in the Parks Project Portal:

Kern Park Engagement Workshop

Join BPRYCS and SHI Studio for a public engagement workshop to develop a Master Plan for Kern Park. Funded by the American Rescue Plan, the Master Plan will outline site improvements that will revitalize the park and establish a high-quality passive space with trails, outdoor educational elements, enhanced habitats.

Anthony Connors joined the BPRYCS Department Parks, Grounds & Facilities Crew in December 2022! Anthony joins us form the Water Department, so he is familiar and experienced with the Bristol community and the City's park system. Join us in welcoming Anthony to the BPRYCS team!

9th Annual Retiree Golf League
Ages 55+
April 25 - September 12
Pequabuck Golf Club
The league includes 9-holes of golf every Tuesday for 20 weeks (4/25 - 9/5) from 9:00 AM - 12:00 PM. On the last Tuesday (9/21 - tentatively), players will enjoy an 18-hole tournament and a banquet sponsored by the Pequabuck Golf Club (PGC). There will be a pre-league meeting at PCG on April 18th beginning at 10:00 AM. Fee is $520 which includes green fees, banquet, USGA handicap card, and great prizes. PGC Member fee is $95.00 (proof of membership required). Learn More

Empower Hour is an after school empowerment program for elementary school age children. Participants will enjoy social skill building activities focused on adjusting to change, controlling impulsive behaviors and emotions, improving self-esteem, and making new friends!

Letters of Love
January 30 - February 10
We invite you to write a kind valentines letter to an elderly Bristol community member and BPRYCS will deliver it to a senior in need of a little love for Valentines Day. Calling all kids and those young at heart to help make Valentine’s Day Cards for Bristol seniors! Participants are encouraged to make their own cards, draw pictures, write letters or simply sign boxed Valentine’s cards. Completed cards can be mailed to or dropped off at the following locations:

Puppy Training at Camp Canine

BPRYCS shines light on Substance Use in Bristol
BEST Coordinator, Michael Tingley, and Youth and Family Coordinator, Alyson Phelan, visited Bristol Central High School last week with local Peer to Peer Program participants. They shared information surrounding the harms of vaping and other substance use with students.

51 High St. Gets a Facelift!
The BPRYCS Main Office, located at 51 High Street, got a facelift recently - look for the blue awning next time you swing by! We're on the corner of High St. & Bellevue Ave; just up the street from the Bristol Public Library!

Stocks Playground Update
We are anticipating construction for a new splash park, basketball and volleyball court lighting and ADA enhancements to get underway in late March pending weather.

BPRYCS and the Parks, Grounds, and Facilities crew have been working to prioritize local environmental efforts. Landscape Gardner Steven Schriver presented his design ideas for the Pine Lake Adventure Park entrance on Birch Street. The landscape work is expected to commence in the Spring of 2023 following the construction of the new bathrooms. | |
