We Are the Bread of Life!
Students install a day-camp-crafted stepping stone in the school garden
Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

Our last week of school is almost done! Our Bread of Life has leavened and risen all year and now we are ready to spread out in the world! We completed our last day of classes today and look forward to our final School Mass tomorrow (signup here to attend or livestream)! We'll see our new incoming 8th grade lead us at Mass, as well as say goodbye to a few of our staff who are spreading their wings on to new adventures.

A couple of business notes for you as we wrap-up this school year and head into the next:
  • Teachers are madly working to finalize report cards and we plan to email those unofficial copies when completed, followed by hard copy mailing of report cards, MAPS results, and any other assessments.
  • Thank you for diligently returning loaned school computers and equipment from this crazy pandemic year. We're renewing them for use next school year and assessing for any damages or repairs needed. FACTS will reflect any assessments as well as an explanatory note from the school office.
  • FACTS for next school year is getting finalized for new and returning students, billing begins July 5th.
  • Returning students' Earthquake Kits from this year are being held in the ready for Fall.
  • Classrooms are moving out of the gym and back into the building! A work party next week (Tuesday, multiple shifts available) is filling fast to help with the last of the furniture movement to help us reset for Fall!
  • The FundANeed for Bathroom repairs is well underway. Save the Date and keep an eye out for Demolition Fun on Saturday, June 26th! (signup coming soon)!
Phew... I'm out of breath with excitement of those last few bits of news! I look forward to seeing you all either on the livestream, or in-person tomorrow morning!
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Summer Math and Reading
Parents: We highly encourage you to keep your student on the suggested schedule so they can maintain the skills they have learned this year. Students in these current grades will receive:

  • Kindergarten - a packet with math and reading review
  • 1st grade - a packet with math and language arts review. Please continue to use your individualized book lists and RAZ to find “just right” text and books! Students are encouraged to read aloud 20 minutes a day.
  • 2nd-4th grades - a math packet. Students are encouraged to read 20-30 minutes a day. Kids A-Z reading resources will also be available.
  • Grades K-4 - Math Whizz and XtraMath will be available to your students throughout the summer. We recommend that you continue to use these resources! For optimal results, use Math Whizz for 45 minutes a week and XtraMath 3-5 times a week.
  • Grades 5-7 Math - A mandatory summer math packet will be sent home with students the final week of school. A digital version can also be found on Ms. Savio's website.
  • Middle School Summer Reading and Writing - All information can be accessed throughout the summer via Google Classroom, in which all incoming middle school students have enrolled. If your incoming sixth, seventh or eighth grader doesn’t have access to Mr. Santos’ and Ms. HobbsSummer Google Classroom, please email us and we’ll get you the code. So read a book in the sun! Write a poem about nature! Keep your mind in shape!
  • Incoming 8th Grade Juan Diego Project Summer Expectations - All incoming 8th graders will need to begin their Juan Diego Projects over the summer, with July 4th, August 15th and September 1st deadlines. All materials are posted in 8 Religion Class of 2022 Google Classroom and can be found here, and will be emailed to parents and students on Friday, June 11th. All current 7th graders at OLG have accepted their Google Classroom accounts. For new family access, please contact Ms. Hobbs.

Also, check your student's report card for comments and recommendations (report cards will be emailed, and also mailed with MAPS testing results).

Students in K-4 who complete and return their packets to next year’s teacher on the first week of school will be eligible to participate in an ice cream treat. If you have any questions please contact Mrs. Lawler. Middle schoolers (no ice cream party) just tests and a book assignment in September. Have a fun and safe summer!

OLG Parish News
----------------------------
Your gift to the Annual Catholic Appeal is still needed! To date only 26% of parishioners have participated totaling $63,153 in pledges. As a reminder, if we do not meet our goal of $76,228 the parish will need to make up the shortfall out of our budget. If you are a school family receiving in-parish tuition for the 21/22 school year we gently remind you that one of the criteria includes active participation in the Annual Catholic Appeal as defined by your family and then communicated to the parish or archdiocese.
Safe Parking Update
We recently welcomed a new couple into our Safe Parking lot. We are happy to be up and running again! If you would like to support this effort, we need a few more volunteers to help maintain the Hospitality Hut. You can sign up for the days and/or times that work for you each month. For more information, contact Jennifer
