Dear St. Alphonsus Families,
Welcome to another BEAUTIFUL week in May. Mrs. Schermetzler snapped this photo in the courtyard this morning. It is so nice to see the trees and flowers start to bloom and to have consistently nice weather lately!
There are lots of things to share and see in this week's newsletter!
Most importantly, 2025-2026 Financial Aid applications are available! You can find all the details and a link to the application form below. Please note that these are due by Monday, June 16.
We also want to make you aware of a new and concerning trend circulating on TikTok and other social media platforms that poses a serious risk to student safety and school equipment. We have not had any issue with this at St. Alphonsus, but we would like you to be aware. The trend involves students inserting small metal objects--such as paper clips or pushpins--into Chromebook charging ports or internal components in an attempt to cause electrical short circuits. This behavior can result in sparks, potential fires, battery damage, or even serious injury. Our family handbook & technology agreement always emphasizes the importance of respecting school property. Students who intentionally damage Chromebooks may face disciplinary action and will be held responsible for the full cost of replacement. Thank you for helping us keep our students safe and our equipment in working order.
Thank you to those of you who were able to join us for a very joyful and beautiful Spring Music Concert last week! Please note that Mrs. Greco is still editing the videos and we will have them for you soon.
It's that time of year when we recruit for new altar servers! You can find more information on this below.
STAR testing reports will be sent home this Friday. If you have any questions regarding your student's STAR scores, please contact their homeroom teacher!
Please be sure to check out all the other great items in this week's newsletter. To all the St. Alphonsus Mothers and Mother Figures: We hope you had a wonderful Mother's Day!
Best regards,
Ms. Parey, Principal
Mrs. Schermetzler & Mrs. Bruhn, Leadership Team

Is Your Child Interested in Being a Server?
Your child is invited to learn how to become an altar server to assist at our Sunday Masses. Being an altar server is a tremendous opportunity for your child to take on the responsibility of helping to lead our worship. While serving in this role, he or she can learn more about the Mass and experience the Lord through the Eucharist in a new way.
The altar server provides a key role in the liturgy through the support they provide for the presider. Because of this, a certain amount of maturity is required in order to perform this ministry. As parents, you are in the best position to judge whether your son or daughter is ready to take on this ministry.
Altar Server forms were sent home last week, but we are extending the deadline to return them! If your child is interested in learning how to be an altar server, simply complete this form and return it to school. The form is due this Friday, May 16. A training session will then be scheduled for our new servers. The summer is a good time to start learning how to serve as it is a slower time in parish life.
If your son or daughter has a sibling who is also an altar server please indicate that on the form, and we will schedule them together. Please note that this is for new servers only. If your son or daughter is already a server they do not need to attend a training.

The New Family Committee is looking for volunteer mentor families!
Help us welcome new families to St. Alphonsus! This is a very low-key commitment and a great way to get your whole family involved at school. We ask mentor families to exchange contact information with new families so they can have someone to contact with questions, and all mentor & new families attend a social event to welcome them to the school in the fall. Your relationship with your mentor family can be as involved as you want it to be!
If interested, please contact Dawn Eisold.
