Principal's Letter
Family Group getting ready for Advent
Dear OLG Families,

Thank you to all who gave to the School Fund Drive this past week of Giving Tuesday. It takes all of us for our school to continue to Grow in the Light. Letters are going out to the greater alumni and parish community this week. Thank you for your support of our programs that go beyond what basic tuition can support. We are a special community because of you!

Tomorrow is our parish and school Light-Up-The-Night festivities that kicks-off the Advent season . Pictured here is one of our family groups getting ready for Advent this afternoon. As we enter the Advent season, we invite all OLG school families to enter into this experience with us through family reflections. Each week we will send out a short Advent prayer to do as a family. Ideally, these prayers would happen around an Advent wreath so you can light the candles (Christ’s light) each week. These prayers are very similar to the ones we will be doing in school twice a week as we light the Advent wreath and reflect on the ways we can prepare our hearts for Christ to be born anew. On Mondays, all students will gather in the School Hall, and on Wednesdays students will gather in the hallways outside their classrooms. Each week you will be asked to think of one thing you can do, as a family, to “get your hearts ready” for Christmas. We hope you will join us by using these reflections in your own home this year. We hope they will help your family prepare your hearts for Jesus’ birth, as well as provide a connection with our OLG community.

This first Sunday of Advent you can also participate in the parish life by joining the community at Mass for the parish celebration of Our Lady of Guadalupe (dancing and fiesta included)!

Advent preparations also come to us in service, as our Canned Food drive kicks off this next week. So much happening! Please read on for more info of this week and weeks to come, including a special note from Ms. Heidi regarding upcoming presentations to our middle schoolers.
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer
