If you are remote learning Oct 26th
Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

This next week is a busy week for all of us!
  • School Pictures (Oct 26): Link above and more info below for how individual school pictures is working.
  • Conferences (Oct 29/30): Signups are open and changes can be made up to Tuesday; In order to smoothly handle preferences for "inperson" conferences safely, please consider the following:
  • Enter through door/use stairwell nearest to your classroom (K,1 & 5,8 use south door, others please use main entrance)
  • Screenings at each entry door, please allow an extra minute to enter building and get to classroom so you are on-time.
  • Wipes and sanitizer available outside each classroom
  • Masks required and continue social distance spacing whether in classroom or in hallway.
  • Halloween - normally there is the huge carnival fun on our campus this time of year, but this year the parent org (and some additionally enterprising room parents) have made fun take home surprises for all our students. Please read these Halloween Tips from Public Health and look for your child's extra bag at packet-pickup and/or conferences!
Our return to in-person learning plans continue to develop, even in our current "pause" in bringing back more students. K.C. Public Health this past week continued their guidance for a cautious approach:
"In short, for schools that have already brought back some students in-person, PHSKC does not advise rolling back those measures at this time. Continuity for kids and educators is one important factor that school districts need to weigh before making quick shifts to all distance-learning, particularly for early grades."
Once we have decided to bring the next grade back (1st grade), it will be 2 weeks from decision-date to actual return to school. The earliest possible next class return timeline is November 9th; since current key indicator levels are generally flat, our pause continues. We will continue to monitor closely the Key Indicator numbers to make sure trends are moving in a safe direction before bringing more student groups back on campus.

As we move into Halloween, Thanksgiving, and soon the Christmas holidays, we need to maintain vigilance with our interactions with others to allow a covid-safe environment for all. The extraordinary measures teachers are taking at this time in their personal lives to make possible our school reopening can be recognized by commensurate actions across our greater community at large. Thank you for all you do to help build our community together and continue to share in the Bread of Life.

Finally, I want to make sure to share a message from Fr. Kevin as we've missed him these past few weeks. As you continue to send prayers and well-wishes to Fr. Kevin, please take a moment to watch a video message from him where he gives an update and expresses his thanks.

Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Living the Eucharist in the Year of the Eucharist
Saturday, Nov 7th, 9:30-11:00 am (by Zoom)
The Eucharist is the center of our Catholic faith and yet, especially during COVID-19, it can be difficult for us to keep it at the center of our lives. This year Archbishop Etienne has declared it “The Year of the Eucharist” with the goals of deepening our awareness of Christ’s presence, creating a greater sense of unity around the table of the Lord, and, most importantly, living more fully the Eucharist in our daily lives. Gather with others as to grow in our understanding of Eucharist and how we can open up to the many gifts that it offers us, both individually and as a community. Zoom link
