Goooo Brewers!
It's been a fun week hearing the students chatter about the Brewers and celebrating their win in the NLDS! We are so excited, so we thought it would be fun to have a Brewers Spirit Day on Friday, October 17. Students can dress out of uniform and wear Brewers gear or anything blue/yellow to go along with the theme!
It is a busy week this week with Grandparents Day on Wednesday and Slime Time for myself and Father Kevin on Friday afternoon! I know the students are really looking forward to this and so are we!
A couple of other quick reminders this week:
- Please take a minute to remind yourself of our Tuition Schedule, which can be found on the school website here. Tuition can be paid via PowerSchool, or via check made payable to St. Alphonsus School

Tomorrow, Tuesday, October 14 is our next pizza lunch. If you did not sign your child up for pizza lunch, please send a cold lunch and beverage, as no hot lunch or ala carte will be served.
-
Related, Thursday, October 23 is a pizza party reward for several of our classes who earned this as part of the Fun Run! These classes are: 7th, 5th, 4th, 2nd, and 4K. Because of this, there are not enough numbers for hot lunch, so all other classes will need to bring a cold lunch and a beverage that day. Thank you for your understanding; you can see an updated October lunch calendar below.
-
Friday, October 31, we will have a Halloween Spirit Day! Guidance on Halloween costumes is below. Please read carefully, and please also note that the Halloween costume guidance does NOT apply to costumes at Trunk or Treat. Feel free to reach out to me directly with questions.

Our 8th Grade is hosting a food drive! They are currently reading The Hunger Games in their Literature class and have planned this service project to go with their unit. Check out the flyer below! This week they are collecting items for a balanced breakfast. Think cereal, oatmeal, canned fruit, etc.
This newsletter is our number one communication tool to you as parents. We ask that you please read it thoroughly each week. Our school website is also a great resource for you and has lots of information available under the PARENTS tab at the top of the page. You can also always find an archive of our school newsletters on our website here.
Have a great week and Go Brewers!
Best Regards,
Megan Sagat

| October Virtue: Responsibility | | |
Our October School-wide Virtue is Responsibility!
Classes are spending time in October learning about this virtue, which falls under the cardinal virtue of Justice. Students learn about this virtue in many ways, including class discussions about what it means to be responsible in the classroom and at home. We also talk about Responsibility during some of our Morning Announcements sessions, and students watch video clips and do other fun classroom activities to explore the virtue of Responsibility!
The virtue program also features many saints. This month one of the saints we have talked about is St. Margaret of Scotland. Margaret was an English princess who met her future husband in an unusual way. She was traveling by sea when a violent storm wrecked their boat off the coast of Scotland, near the king’s castle. She met the king, and they married. As queen of Scotland she had many responsibilities. She was careful to take care of the poor and made sure that the people were able to go to Mass. She reformed the laws and courts so they were fair and just.
Next week we will have some tips for you about discussing & implementing some of the virtues at home!
