Dear St. Alphonsus Families,
Happy Monday! Well, it looks like the summer temps might be back for a few days this week! Either way, fall keeps trucking along and we are looking forward to Trunk or Treat on Friday night. You can see all the details below.
Thank you so much for your support of the Glow Run! We made our goal (!!!!) and so on Friday, students will get the chance to throw a pie in our faces! We can't say we're looking forward to it, but it will surely be fun, haha.
Please thank the grandparents and grandfriends in your lives for their attendance at Grandparents Day last week! We had a fantastic time having everyone in the building. Our 3K, 4K, and 5K students sang a cute song, we enjoyed mass together, and there was even a scavenger hunt with stops at our photobooth and pumpkin patch, where grandparents could read all the reasons why their students love spending time with them! We finished the morning off with some bingo. A great time was had by all, and you can see a few photos below and we will share more on our social media channels this week.
With that, we wish you a great week! As a reminder, you can always find an archive of our school newsletters on our website here. This is the first stop for you for information about what's going on at school!
Best regards,
Ms. Parey, Principal
Mrs. Schermetzler & Mrs. Bruhn, Leadership Team

THANK YOU FOR HELPING US REACH OUR GOAL!
Congratulations St. Alphonsus School Families! Together we raised over $20,000 and met our school goal. Thank you for your hard work to make this happen!
As a reward for reaching our goal, we will be doing a Pie in the Face Party! On Friday, October 25 at 10:00am, one student from each class (picked out of a hat) will get to throw a pie at one member of the Leadership team. One staff member will also get to throw a pie! We will also have music and a few special surprises. Please pray for good weather!
Thank you again to our St. Alphonsus school community for making this Glow Run so successful! You can see tons of great photos of this event on our Instagram profile here.

Why SCRIP (RaiseRight) Makes $en$e!
A testimonial from a grandparent:
We have been using SCRIP to support our grandchildren's Catholic school education since our first granddaughter was in kindergarten and now she's in grad school! At first, we only bought grocery and gas cards. After discovering how easy it was, we started buying from other retailers. Now that there is an App and reloadable gift cards, it's rare to buy something without using SCRIP.
SCRIP is so easy to use and the bonus days are especially nice when you earn so many extra SCRIP dollars for the school. The older grandchildren appreciate the Starbucks and Kwik Trip gift cards, and even the younger grandchildren are requesting gift cards now. SCRIP is so simple, and the benefits for the school are so great. A little SCRIP here and a little SCRIP there add up to a big benefit for your family and the school. Besides, who doesn't like getting a gift card?
Stop at the SCRIP table at church and chat with us, or check out these videos for How to Get Started:

Staff Spotlight: Mrs. Gutche | |
Welcome to Staff Spotlight!
Each week we will be highlighting a member of our staff so you can get to know them better. This week we are featuring...Mrs. Gutche, our 4th Grade Teacher!
Mrs. Gutche has been a teacher for 14 years and has spent 8 of those years here at St. Alphonsus. She loves Disney (Stitch is her favorite character) and looks forward to a yearly trip with her mom (here they are pictured with Winnie the Pooh). She also loves watching sports, reading, and shares a murder mystery obsession with Mrs. Schermetzler. Mrs. Gutche & Mr. Gutche are the proud "paw-rents" of an 11 year old miniature Yorkie named Toby.

Trunk or Treat Important Reminders!
Get ready for some family-friendly spooky fun! Join us this Friday, October 25th from 6:00-7:00pm in the St. Alphonsus parking lot, rain or shine!
Important Notes:
- All are welcome! Whether you host a trunk or not, come and join us for some Halloween fun. Costumes encouraged!
-
Please enter through the South entrance of the parking lot. The North portion of the parking lot will be blocked off so everyone is safe while trick or treating. There is plenty of parking available on the south end of the lot (from the playground equipment and south; please see the map below).
- Only those who signed up in advance to host a trunk may do so.
- Stop by the tables to:
- Vote for your favorite pumpkin (carved by the teachers and staff of St. Alphonsus, winners will be announced Monday morning)
- Vote for your favorite trunk, the top 3 with the most votes win a prize! (winners will be announced around 7:00pm)
-
Trick or treating will officially kick off with a costume parade this year! Children should meet in the center about 5:55pm so they can join the parade and then start their trick or treating fun!
If you are hosting a trunk, please check in as you arrive. Only those adults who signed up in advance will receive a wristband from staff and will be allowed to hand out treats. Thank you for your understanding as we must follow Archdiocesan policy for Trunk or Treat events.
We are also in need of a few volunteers to help us set up and clean up. Please sign up here if you are available.
Thank you to everyone who has generously volunteered to host a trunk or carve a pumpkin, we could not do this without you!! If you have any questions, please contact Tricia Williams or Dawn Eisold.

Girl Scouts Kick Off Their Year with a Service Project!
The 1st through 4th grade Girl Scouts came together this month to kick off the year with a service project. Together the two troops donated snack and lunch items, decorated brown bags and packed over 64 bagged lunches to donate to a local organization to help those in need. It was a wonderful way to start the year!

St. Al's Trivia Night returns!
Our beloved Parish Trivia Night is back! Join us for an evening of fun with your fellow parishioners in the St. Alphonsus Community Room.
Saturday night is "sold out" but we have plenty of seating available for Friday night, November 22! Gather your table of 8-10 people and vie for the "coveted" St. Al's Trivia Night trophy.
We are raising funds for our incredible Food Pantry. There will be door prizes and a 50/50 raffle. The cost to participate remains $10 per person. Call Vickie Major to reserve your spot at 414-704-0526.

The St. Alphonsus Grand Raffle Needs You!
The St. Alphonsus Grand Raffle needs you to make this a profitable fundraiser! We need to sell a lot of tickets to reach our goal of selling 2,500 tickets. If you haven’t purchased tickets yet, please consider doing so now. If you are unable to purchase one, how about trying to sell a ticket (or 2 or 3 or more) to family or friends? The drawing is Sunday, November 3 which means we have only two weeks left to sell these tickets.
Tickets cost $50 each and only 2,500 will be sold. The odds of winning are 1 in 10! The Grand Prize is $15,000 and Second Prize is $5,000. There will be 248 more prizes ranging from $100 to $1,500! These odds and prizes should make the tickets easy to sell. Don't delay and miss your opportunity to win.
Tickets are available at the Grand Raffle table after all weekend Masses. Tickets may also be purchased at the Parish Office. If these options don't work for you, please call the parish office at (414) 421-2442 or fill out a request form on our website here. We are ready and willing to drop off and pick up tickets at your home.
Why are we doing a Grand Raffle? The last two years' collections have been down which has resulted in St. Al's operating at a deficit. This is not sustainable. Please help us eliminate the budget shortfall and have some fun at the same time. We can do this but not without you!
Thank you in advance for your support!
-Matthew Evrard, Director of Ministerial Support
