Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

Our Bread of Life school theme this year continues to hold... we are rising! Our routines are getting in place this second week of K-8 Distance Learning at the same time as Jog-a-thon kicks into our final laps and we continue to welcome new families to our school! All this while the key indicators we use to measure COVID spread are looking better and better. Much to be discussed at our Town Hall this evening; I look forward to seeing you all there!
This Friday our class packet-pickup continues. To continue to play it safe, please remember to keep your visit time as efficient as possible. K-5 teachers are working during these times with individual students and families supporting the distance learning. Contact your teacher if you need to schedule time for additional support on Fridays. We also still have masks available for purchase ($5 each - Online order and pay here) and pickup on Fridays. All proceeds go directly to the Parent Organization. Thank you Parent Org for heading up this great new "spirit wear!"

As we continue in Distance Learning for the time being, some home tech issues have arisen, so read on for "Back to School Essentials" tips and assistance that you can try at home. Continue to call the school office to help with school tech issues as well. Also below in "Specialist News" is a further introduction from our School Counselor, Mrs. Kristin, and more notes regarding the return of Art and Band! We continue to share in the Bread of Life together...
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

What's Your Plan?
Greetings from the 2021 Auction Committee! We began planning in June and are to have the time and space to improve on our approach to the Auction this year .

We know times are busy and so want to explain a few key changes to the way we're collecting Auction donations this year. Please read our FAQs and if you can, let us know your plan by Sept 30.

This is a communication date because as a team we need to assess items, help those needing ideas, and speak to those in financial hardship.

Committee meetings are the First Tuesday of every month ! All are welcome!

Sept 1-25th

Jog-A-Thon is underway! Please share this link with your friends and family for donations. It is a virtual event this year. Kindergarten is currently in the lead! Remember if you ask 15 people to give $10 each, you reach your goal!

Keep sending us your photos and videos so we can share them in the Jog-A-Thon school assembly on Sept 25th!
Please JOIN the ALL parent Facebook Group! We want to connect with you!
When clicking to join please answer ALL 3 questions in order to be approved.
Looking forward to a great year!

Specialist News
Dear Parents and Guardians,

I am so excited to be joining OLG as your new school counselor this year! I will be working with students in all grades in a variety of ways: providing weekly SEL lessons in pre-k through eighth grade, short-term individual and small group counseling, parent education, referrals for community resources, and consultation with teachers and parents to help students be successful in school. I will be updating my school web page throughout the year with information about what students are learning in SEL class so that you can reinforce those concepts at home. Additionally, I will provide a variety of information on my page that I hope will be helpful for supporting your family’s mental health. Please reach out to me via email at kdickerson@guadalupe-school.org or phone at 206-935-0651, ext. 114 if you have any questions or need additional information.
Warmly,

P.S. A free Positive Parenting conference is happening in a virtual format with some top-notch speakers from Sept. 22-29. All live sessions are free, and you receive a handbook of materials shared at the conference, just by registering. Click here for info!
Art class...
...is returning for grades K-8! We are setting up class schedules to begin in October (at this point through live zoom)...for additional Art options click here!

Band Gratitude
My sincere thanks to the OLG parents that attended the Band Instrumental Rental meeting last Saturday. Through smoke and all, you showed your dedication and loving support of your child! It was a joy to meet you! Special gratitude to Mr. Kramer for allowing us to use the facilities!

Cross Country Update
It wouldn't be 2020 without a delay! Cross Country is pushed back one week due to all of this (gesturing wildly in the air). The air quality is a little too poor to be running around this weekend. The first meet will be Sept. 27th. Registration is open for all those that wish to participate!

Coach Dan Womac has been busy marking routes around Lincoln Park and is creating some awesome training videos for our runners. We all need a little break from zoom time at home and this is a great opportunity to get a little sport activity outside.

Safe Parking Update
It is hard to believe we are almost six months into our Safe Parking “Road to Housing” program! Our last two guests have recently moved on, one to another town and the other into their very own “Tiny Home”. Thank you for your support of this program. Having a safe place to be each night (as well as access to a toilet, microwave, fridge, food, and heat) provides some relief for our parkers and gives them a little more bandwidth to focus on their next steps. We are happy to play a small role in their journey to safe, stable housing. Thank you for making it possible!

OLG’s Youth and Young Adult Ministry is Expanding
We are happy to be expanding our youth and young adult ministry in the parish. If you would like to be part of these ministries (participant or leader), please contact Jennifer. Be sure to connect with us to get the latest news.  Follow us on Instagram and/or Facebook. We also have a Facebook group for Young Adults (OLG Seattle Young Adults). We encourage all young adults (ages 18-39) to register with the parish. Look for more information soon!

A Matter of Spirit: Elections 2020
