Principal's Letter
Dear OLG Families,

Here we are near the end of our final full week of September! Start your Friday morning at this Jog-A-Thon zoom link! Teachers will take attendance on this Jog-A-Thon "Assembly" instead of in their normal homeroom zoom. Help your teacher by making sure your student's zoom has the student's name in it. I'm looking forward to see the whole school together as we celebrate our Jog-A-Thon progress and kick-off our final day for prizes!

Last week's survey will be wrapping up soon! These survey results helps us in our reopening plans and in our continuing work on distance learning. So far more than 100 families have responded, please add your voice too! Click: Take the Sept 18th Family Survey Also, in follow-up to last week's Town Hall & questions arriving from the survey, we continue to update our FAQ here.

Next week many of our classes are beginning NWEA MAPs testing for grades 1-8. For families unfamiliar with the Measurement of Academic Progress (MAP), here is an online parent guide: https://www.nwea.org/parent-toolkit/ Minimize absences, rest well, and have especially healthy breakfasts on those days!
A couple final thoughts this week as we begin our transition into in-person learning. As we bring more students into the building, we will be restricting access of visitors, vendors, and yes parents too. As each class begins their return, we will be communicating with families to make a smooth transition. As we move into more in-person learning opportunities, pleases remember that regardless of whether you're in-person or remote, the learning can only take place with full participation. Our teachers and staff are working hard each and every day to bring the best education we can. This upcoming month we have two opportunities for prayer and community participation in both our Oct. 4th Catechetical Sunday Mass blessing all teachers and students, as well as our Oct 15th All School Mass (led by 5th grade). Thank you for all you do to help build our community together and continue to share the Bread of Life.
Yours in Christ,

Anton Kramer

Important Immunization Changes This Year
There have been some changes to the vaccine requirements for Washington State and the Archdiocese Seattle. We need your help to ensure that all children are safe when we return to school in person. We realize that during these last few months it has been difficult to make any routine appointments for your child. Most clinics are providing vaccines for children, even if in person appointments are limited, so please contact your child's provider if they are due for immunizations. Find a vaccination clinic Requirements are that children cannot physically attend school until they are in compliance with their vaccine requirements.

**Important Changes This Year**
  1. All vaccine reports MUST now be medically verified. CIS forms filled in by parents are no longer accepted. Examples of medically verified immunization records are below.
  2. Changes to Tdap vaccine - children entering 7th grade need Tdap vaccine. The prior requirement was for all 6th graders to get the Tdap vaccine. Now it can be delayed until 7th grade. If your 6th grader has receive Tdap vaccine, that's fine! All students entering the 7th grade must have the vaccine.

Examples of medically verified immunization records:
  • A completed Certificate of Immunization Status (CIS) verified by a health care provider (the right side of the the CIS form will show certification from the health care provider).
  • A CIS filled out by parent/guardian with medical records attached. (Medical records can be printed from your child's electronic medical record or copied from their immunization card)
  • A CIS printed by a health care provider from the WA State Immunization Information System (This will only work of your provider participates)
  • A CIS printed from MyIR with is a free Department of Health online tool that allows families to view and print their official immunization records themselves. Go to https://wa.myir.net/register to begin the sign-up process. (This will only work if your provider participates)

Please send your medically verified immunization record to the school office as soon as possible in order to prepare for in-person learning. If you are unsure if your child's record is medically verified, please reach out to our parent vaccine coordinator, Christina Long, and she will check for you. We will be reviewing all forms and will contact you if a medically verified record is still in need. Please help keep our children safe.

What's Your Plan?
Greetings from the 2021 Auction Committee! We began planning in June and are to have the time and space to improve on our approach to the Auction this year .

We know times are busy and so want to explain a few key changes to the way we're collecting Auction donations this year. Please read our FAQs and let us know your plan by Sept 30.

This is a communication date because as a team we need to assess items, help those needing ideas, and speak to those in financial hardship.

Committee meetings are the First Tuesday of every month ! All are welcome!

Student's prize-earning power extends to midnight of Sept 25th... of course the donation portal will stay open all weekend long so no one misses the opportunity to participate!
