E-News................ Newsletter # 108........September 21, 2021
ALERT Members and Friends,

2021 Conference is here!
Our 2021 30th Anniversary Conference is here! We are looking forward to next week and I again would like to thank the sponsors, attendees, ALERT Board and staff, and Tulsa PD Staff in making this Conference a go!! We are one of the only in-person Conferences that did not cancel for 2021, and without the dedication, patience, and perseverance of all involved, this would not have been possible.

The weather so far is looking great for next week!! For now, highs are being forecasted in the low to mid 90’s. Please consider that when packing appropriate clothing, and maybe throw in some sunscreen. We will be outside on Tuesday, and it may not be that warm where you are coming from so we want everyone to be prepared!

There have been some last minute changes that were out of our control. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the hotel has suspended shuttle service from the airport.  We know this creates a major inconvenience but you will have to rely on taxi or Uber/Lyft services.

The bar will be open in the Renaissance Hotel, but the full service restaurant has been temporarily closed.

Jim Glennon will be replaced by Kellly DeVol as the Calibre Press “Legally Justified” presenter.  Below 100 Train the Trainer class will go until approximately 1300 on Thursday. We will not be taking a lunch break so it will not go until 1600 as the schedule originally stated.

We apologize for these changes but again things are constantly evolving as we navigate these current times. Please like and follow our Facebook page for any last minute changes or updates!

Z Man Award
We still need nominations for the Z man award!!!  Come on folks we know there are good things being done out there, take a few minutes and nominate an individual or unit for their contributions to emergency vehicle operations training!  Nominees do not have to be ALERT Members.

Please nominate your submissions today at alert.president@gmail,com.

L3 Survey
If you haven’t already done so. please fill out the L3 survey that was sent out last week. This is imperative for the information gathered will be shared during the conference and during L3’s presentation. If you did not receive the link to the survey, please reach out to me.

Also we are asking if you have any driving courses, lesson plans, training, stories, or anything of interest to an EVOC trainer, please bring those with you to Tulsa so we can share it and make it accessible to members.  The more information we share with each other, the more we can expand our networking and gather information to better our training programs!

Bruce Cabral Memorial Scholarship Raffle
As many of you know we have a raffle the last night of the conference to help fund the Bruce Cabral Memorial Scholarship. In past years, we had many great items including TV’s, Yeti Coolers, knives, and many high dollar items from Cabela’s outdoors and other retailers.  So we have lots of items to raffle off, we like to have everyone attending the conference bring something from their agency to contribute to the raffle. Please as you are preparing to attend this year start gathering coins, shirts, or anything of interest to a police officer or trainer to bring to the conference.  The more items we have the more successful the raffle will be!

ALERT Conference 2022
If you are attending this year’s Conference, and are interested in possibly hosting 2022, please reach out to me before you arrive with your interest or proposal. That way we can all sit down in person while we are in Tulsa to discuss any questions you may have about what goes into hosting this event. If you would like any questions answered beforehand, please feel free to reach out to me.

Please be safe and patient in your travels.  If you have travelled lately, you know that can be difficult with cancellations and delays.  If you have any last minute concerns or questions, even while in transit or after you arrive in Oklahoma, please email [email protected]. That email will go directly to my phone and we will assist you in any way possible.

Also on Sunday before, during, and after registration there will be ALERT Board members and Tulsa PD staff on hand at the hotel to answer any questions you may have.
Please continue to stay safe and healthy and looking forward to seeing everyone in Tulsa!
