At The Center
First, we have a center client that has been attending one-on-one parenting classes with one of our client advocates. Here is what she had to say about her time at Still Waters:
"While attending parenting classes with Still Waters, everyone made me feel welcome and like a part of the family. I learned new ways of helping my daughter being raised with discipline and with God. Even if you don't think you need help, it will surprise you and I recommend this to all parents." -Tabitha
We are so grateful to have had the opportunity to serve Tabitha and her daughter.
Teen/Young Parent Program
The next client we would like to highlight is a mother from our Monday night program, Chosen. She has demonstrated such strength with life threatening issues that her son has dealt with this year. Here is what she has to share about her experience as a young mommy:
"On January 7th, I took Elliot to Children's hospital ER because he appeared to be having seizures. A CT showed what doctors believed to be a cyst. We were admitted and waited anxiously for more tests. The next day an MRI was done and it showed that Elliot had a tumor on the left side of his brain, approximately the size of a small adult or large child's fist. Elliot was scheduled for surgery first thing the next morning.
We are almost 3 months from the first seizure. A recent MRI shows that the doctor was able to remove more of the tumor than he originally thought which is a praise. Elliot is currently being seen by a speech therapist, a physical therapist and an occupational therapist several times a week. He struggles with right side weakness, swallowing and is behind on some developmental milestones.
We continue to have tests and studies done to assess his current condition and see what improvements can be made. As I type this, I am waiting for a call from Children's Hospital to take him in for a Video Bedside EEG. Elliot has started having what appear to be infantile spasms.
During this time, everyone at Still Waters has been a blessing. From the moment Elliot's tumor was discovered, there was not a day that I have had to go through this alone. They have been a great support system for us and have been so encouraging through the ups and downs of his condition and me trying to finish school on top of it all.
I am extremely grateful that God has placed such caring and selfless people in our lives and could not thank them enough for all that they have done." -Tori
