Chair's Corner

Donald Trump’s illegal directive banning unions for federal workers is a blatant attempt to give corporations more control over hiring people. One essential truism of American economic life is that the fewer union jobs that exist, the lower wages for ALL of us. Which means simply wages will go down, while corporate profits go up.

Also, cutting jobs at Social Security, at health agencies, and in the Department of Education doesn’t make anything more efficient. It takes money out of the hands of seniors and the disabled, makes us sicker, and it makes us dumber.

And don’t even get me started about the person they mistakenly sent to an El Salvador prison because of “administrative error.” Not only are they ridiculous and lack any human compassion, but they’re also incompetent. Their whole administration is an error.

Democrats believe more people should be able to join unions, not less. More people should have jobs, not fewer. And more Americans should have money in their hands not just the rich.

The SAVE Act would not make voting more secure; it would just make it harder for millions of Americans to vote.

Voters would need to provide one of the following documents to register:

US Birth Certificate
US Passport
Certificate of Naturalization
Certificate of Citizenship

WHY DOES THIS MATTER?

140 Million US Citizens do not have a passport
Up to 69 million WOMEN who changed their last name after marriage do not have a birth certificate matching their legal name

Find your representative's contact information here.

When you call, you could say something like this:

"My name is ____ and I'm one of your constituents from [CITY]. I urge you to oppose the anti-voter “SAVE” Act because it would scare newly naturalized citizens out of voting and make it harder for millions of eligible voters to cast a ballot. Please reject this legislation."

If no one answers, be sure to leave a message!

This amendment would authorize a $2.5 billion general obligation bond, limited to $250 million per year over 10 years, to fund the State Capital Improvement Program (SCIP) through the Ohio Public Works Commission. Read more here.
