Mrs. Schermetzler Says...

Dear St. Alphonsus Families,

I can't believe it's already here, but this is your last email from me as the interim Principal!

Mrs. Sagat officially returns to the office on Wednesday,
and we look forward to welcoming her back. I have loved being "in charge" these last 9 weeks. I learned so much and loved being more fully present in the hallways and classrooms every day, so much so that I intend to continue those practices through the rest of the year! Yep, that means my cart is here to stay, haha! I want to thank you all for your prayers and support during this time--I am really appreciative of each and every one of you and the many words of encouragement I received. As I return to my "regular" duties, you probably won't notice much of a change, and that has always been my goal--a seamless transition for our students, families, and staff. Again, from the bottom of my heart, thank you.

A few other repeat reminders this week:

  • We are still waiting for a few families to return their re-enrollment forms & fees. This helps us to plan for next year, holds your student's spots, and the $75 fee per FAMILY is credited to your tuition next year. You can find a copy of the form here.

  • Our 5K Daisy Troop is still hosting that Hygiene Drive to benefit the St. Alphonsus Food Pantry! The class who brings in the most items will win a pizza party! Find more details below.

  • The Kids Heart Challenge kicks off tomorrow. Mr. Gutche hosts this for us (you may remember this as Jump Rope For Heart when you were a kid), so be sure to check out the registration information below.

Lastly, a couple of reminders about the Parish Auction which is finally here! The 25th Anniversary Auction takes place right here at St. Alphonsus on Friday, April 24:

  • We could still use some student volunteers to help serve on Friday evening. Find more details below and the sign up here.

  • I also wanted to let you know what my schedule is this week due to this event. I am at school today and tomorrow, but I will be out of the office on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday for setup & coordination of the event. I will be checking emails during that time on a very limited basis.

As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you need anything: aschermetzler@st-alphonsus.org. Email is a much faster way to get me, as I am not often near my desk these days to answer the phone.

Thank you again for all of your support. I am deeply grateful for all of you.

Did you know that St. Alphonsus Home & School partners with 1st Day School Supplies to give parents an easy way to get everything your student needs for school?

The Parish Auction is Friday, April 24!

We could still use some student volunteers for the Parish Auction!

This is a great way for kids to perform some community service, saves St. Al's the money we'd otherwise have to pay for adult waitstaff, and is a lot of fun!

Students should arrive at 4:30pm and will be done between 9:30pm and 10:00pm. Students will assist with table and other set up. They will serve appetizers to guests during cocktail hour. After that, they will work in the dining area, clearing salad plates, serving entrees, bringing coffee carafes to the tables and clearing plates, glasses, silverware, etc. at the end of the meal.

We will feed students dinner shortly after arrival. Students should wear a plain, white shirt or blouse and black pants or skirt with comfortable, closed toe shoes.

Students in grades 4-8 are eligible to serve. High schoolers are also welcome. Sign up here!

This is also the last week to purchase Raffle Calendars!

$25 each and only 600 sold. We will only be selling these until the night of the auction, so get them before they're gone.

You have many chances to win $9,000 in prizes and you do NOT need to be present at the auction to win, as the winning goes all year! Stop by the parish auction table in the gathering space after weekend Masses to pick one up, or stop into the parish or school offices as well. This is a great way for you to support the auction even if you are not attending!
