The CCDP marks the passing ot William "Bill" Patmon. Patmon served as Cleveland City Councilman for 12 years and Ohio State Representative for Ohio House District 10 for eight years. His notable legislation includes the Lizzie B. Byrd Act, named in honor of his mother, that ensures that breast cancer patients are fully informed of all treatment options, including coverage for reconstructive surgery. He also co-sponsored “Goddard’s Law,” strengthening protections against animal cruelty.

Beyond public office, Bill was an accomplished businessman and civic leader. As President of East Erie Enterprise LLC, he provided consulting services in community development, economic development, and municipal finance. He also served as a Special Consultant to the late Councilwoman Fannie M. Lewis. He was a longtime member of the NAACP, member of the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority Board of Trustees, Leadership Cleveland's Class of 1998, among other honors.
