It has been an extremely busy week at St. Joes.  With the announced closure of Wauwatosa Catholic School, we have had a number of inquiries from families looking to join The St. Joes Community. 

We are providing information and some families have been touring our school. Our middle school students are doing an exceptional job of touring families and sharing their experiences at our school.

We are also in the process of interviewing school counselor and fifth grade teacher candidates. We are grateful to the parents that have joined us for the interviews. Our goal is to bring the highest quality staff to join our school and our outstanding faculty.

We have welcomed the input from families regarding procedures and policies in anticipation for the 2023-24 school year. The next scheduled committee meeting is Thursday, May 4th at 6:45pm when the school committee will meet in our school library. Our staff will be working on the student handbook to incorporate some of the suggested changes. We will also focus on the standards based grading system throughout the summer and at the start of the school year.

Please keep the school calendar at hand as we have several upcoming events that we are inviting families to attend.

Parents PLEASE NOTE:

K4-5th grade students should wear nice clothes for VIP Day. This could be a nice shirt and dress pants/khakis (uniform or better), or a skirt or dress. If you wear a skirt or dress, you must wear tights or leggings underneath since you are up on stage. Shoes should be comfortable for standing. Please do not wear jeans, t-shirts, or sweats. 

Middle school students who were in the musical should wear their Seussical shirts with sweats, leggings, or black pants. If they were NOT in the musical, they should dress up (like the K4-5th grade students).

The weather was not in the Boy Scouts favor last Saturday, but they did manage to clean up the Courtyard and add a few items to spruce it up. They raked the gardens, swept the ground, and sanded the benches. They also put up the umbrellas, planted two shrubs in pots and moved the pots down so the plants can get moisture from the dirt, planted some wildflower seeds and a flower, and added a few yard ornaments. SURPRISE! They found a duck nest with eggs!!! When the arrived the duck flew away and the scouts were careful to not disturb the nest so Mama will come back. The garden be more natural with wildflowers, as these plants are easy to maintain and important to our environment.  When the weather is nicer, the scouts will be back to paint the benches, power wash the ground, and maintain the garden. The boys like the idea of continued work on the courtyard and being a part of its maintenance.

The 6th and 7th Grade Girl Scouts went to the Wisconsin Humane Society yesterday to deliver blankets that they made for the cats and dogs there.

Our 3rd & 4th grade students were given the opportunity to combine fun and learning by attending Channel 58's Weather Day this week at American Family Field. A good time was had by all!

Guide Book & Directory

Advertising Opportunity

We are in the process of updating our annual Guide Book & Directory for the parish. This book will contain everything pertinent to our parish: the various ministries, organizations, committees, activities, functions and events plus a complete directory of all members. This book is being provided and direct-mailed to each family at no cost to our church, and it is again being subsidized by local businesses that advertise. If you own or manage a business and would like to find out about advertising in our book, please call the Parish Office at 414-771-4626.

Recent survey results by Guide Book Publishing show that 92.1% of families would rather patronize a Guide Book & Directory advertiser over a non-advertiser. It “will pay” to advertise in our new Guide Book & Directory.

Update Membership Information

Here is your chance to update YOUR record for our annual Guide Book & Directory (if you haven’t already done so).

It is time for us to update our database with any changes, additions, or deletions that may have occurred in YOUR family over the past year.

Have you changed your phone number? Have you moved? Are you preparing to move soon? Are all of your children still at home and are they all included in your membership record? Do you want your record published?

If you have not already informed the Parish Office about changes to your record, please let us know now so that the information in the Guide Book & Directory is correct.
